Missing disable activity tracking After update to 13.21

I have Garmin Forerunner 255 and I want to stop activity tracking, because this was the only one way to prevent steps detection while driving car or travelling in train. Before the update to 13.21 this was possible but now the option has disappeared

  • same bug here, VERY annoying, is there a fix??

  • Chatted with Garmin on this: Activity tracking is now defaulted on with no provision to switch off (we are now forced to endure the data clutter of daily steps and floors climbed which increment while driving if watch is worn as a daily). No option to roll back software. Only work around is to buy a second FR and designate it as primary activity tracker and leave it in a drawer. I suggest anyone who cares about this pester their Engineering dept to reinstate the option to turn this nonsense off... Probably doesn't bother most users but I find the notion of my watch patting me on the head for walking unnecessary : )

  • What can.we do to make this thing arrive to Garmin engineears?

The chat agent stated they would forward feedback as well but having done a similar job in the past I know that can sometimes not happen. I was told by another user that they use the activity tracking to increase accuracy of their fitness models - so now my car is part of the equation since it is doing steps and stairs for me! Also not really comfortable with them just collecting more data than I want them to without having a say in the matter.

  • Maybe you need to replace the dampers on your car? I never get steps or stairs from driving. Do you listen to music in the car, and tap the rhythm with your left hand?

  • One car is an "off-road" version of a pickup, the other is a sports car... so agree that they are more prone to misreads! Happens on busses as well for me. But my wanting control on what is being collected and tracked by my watch stands.

  • The same issue can happen where roads aren't the best, for exemple with a lot of holes or with a bad asphalt and in trains
