Weather Widget on Watch Showing Wrong Location

Hi,

I am currently at a loss. I have looked through everything I can find, but nothing is solving my issue. I am looking at the weather on my watch, but it is telling me it is the weather for Sheffield...I am in Wales. I have Bluetooth on and Garmin Connect open, I am sharing my location and I have been connected for jut over an hour and nothing has changed.

I have rebooted my iPhone and my watch, I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it, nothing.

Is there anything else I can try? I have also tried getting a GPS lock with the watch...still nothing.

I am on 4.19 could this be a bug?

How close are the two locations? It used to be that weather showed the location of your phone, but now shows the location of the weather station reporting the data.

About 204 miles apart. So not down the road.

Is your app using a fixed location that you can change, or your phones location?

From the Garmin Connect app, we allow you to choose between your phone's current location or from a fixed location that you choose from a map within the app.

Open the Garmin Connect app.
Access the Menu.
- Android: Select (upper left).
- iOS: Select More (bottom right).
Select Settings.
Select User Settings.
Select Weather Location.

From here you will choose from either your phone's location or a fixed location.

Mine has been providing weather from the wrong location since day one, always the same place I've no idea where it is, despite being set to use phone location. It's also been reset twice and still keeps using the same incorrect location.

I only check occasionally but every time if I'm not connected via Bluetooth it askes to connect the phone which is veey annoying

"Weather information displayed on your device is collected from the closest official weather station and may be different than what displays in your weather app on your phone. Local airports will be the most common official weather stations."

So the closest weather station to me is 204 miles away? I’m not sure that’s right…Cardiff has an airport, and failing that Bristol is probably a lot closer than Sheffield. I’m not sure this explanation pans out…

Same, mine is 50 mules from me in a tiny village, absolutely not the closest weather station

Are you using your phone's location or a fixed location? Does it find your closer station with a fixed location?

I totally agree with you

Regardless of the configuration on the phone app (Phone/Fixed location), on the weather widget, my FR965 is displaying the temperature and forecast of what I guess is the closest airport to my area. In my case this airport is near the sea and I live 30km away to the countryside so weather information is useless for me.

[My feedback to Garmin] I understand that weather station at the airport is very accureate but I am perfectly fine with the weather accuracy of my phone's weather widget as it perfectly matches my location. Is there a way to use the same weather information as the phone is showing?
