After I spent time with support, engineering said they found the bug, will be fixing it, but no timeline on release.
A workaround for drills I found is to limit your drills to less the 3 minutes. Basically…
I don't think there's ever been a version 25.66. There's a new update out, by the way.
It sounds like you may need to update your software. Please take a look at the information in this FAQ on updating your software (you can also view the current versions at the bottom of the page): Installing the Latest Software On Your Forerunner 955 Series
I updated my software to 26.08, and since then I have had 2 crashes with reboots during swim workouts. In both cases I was using drill mode and pressed the lap button to conclude, whereby it froze and then rebooted. All the software (e.g., GPS 13.00, CIQ 5.2.0 etc.) reflect current versions. I have never had this on previous software versions. The problem did occur many years ago on a 735xt, and when I contacted Garmin support, an update was issues with a fix. Thus, given that a number of people are experiencing this issue, there must be a bug in the software. Please fix. Thx.
Yes, there was a 25.55 versión although I upgraded 2 days ago to bundle 26:08 and I already had 1 spontaneous reboot...
Crashed a 3rd time during swim today. It crashes in the same point in the workout - after 2,000m swimming, and then after a 12 minute drill. It freezes when I try to end the drill mode with lap button. It is definitely the software version. Very disappointing!
Mine crashed also during swim. Which resulted now in constantly rebooting loop on my watch.
And now my hearth rate sensor doesn't work anymore
I have noticed a strange behaviour of my 955 since last firmware update.
I often use the indoor swimming activity (set to 14m), after 10min of swimming I make a 5min brake then go again for 10min swimm and them make again about 11min brake and then go again for 10min swimm. (During the brakes the watch goes automatically to idle mode)
Now, ever time after the 11min brake I start swimming and after several meters the watch crashes completely and make a full restart - I tested this already 3 times so it seems to me as quite a regular behavior.
Garmin, is this issue know?
Recently, I installed version 26.08, but I can’t remember the exact day.
I went to the pool this Wednesday, and I swam almost non-stop for 40 minutes without anything unusual happening.
Today, unusually, I focused a lot on leg work, and as a result the watch thought I was taking a break and the rest timer kept increasing.
After a while, when I looked at my watch, the activity had stopped and the regular watch face was displayed.
I restarted it and noticed the same thing after about ten minutes.
This time, I saw a Garmin logo, and then the watch face appeared again.
Update: I reinstalled the software, but it crashed for a 4th time at the same point in the workout. Lesson learned - don't update when it works! :-( Garmin, please fix this!
Yep, same for me. 4th crash during drill mode, now even after reinstalling the software. Very disappointing!
