Golf Measure Shot Question

I am a new FR 955 owner. I did not buy it for golf functionality, but having front/middle/back distances on my wrist is a nice to have add to my GPS and laser devices. The first round of golf that I played I found the 955 to be displaying the distance from the last shot at the top of the main screen. I have not been able to do this since that first round (it was only a couple of holes and I truly was not paying a lot of attention at that time).

How exactly do I get this function back? Shot detection seems to be working fine, BTW. And I can go through the manual shot distance measure process just fine. I am looking to simply see front/middle/back green distances and last shot distance on my main watch screen. I don't care about automatic scoring one way or the other. I am using Version 23.20, BTW.

Thanks.

  • Just heard back from support. Apparently the auto shot issue is across FR, Fenix and approach. So it sound slike they are going to be prioritizing it.

  • Thanks for letting me know - I will try to be patient. dave

  • Hi Guys,

I am facing similar issues with the autoshot tracking, actually it´s that the feature is not working at all or it works randomly. It´s happening since the 23.30 FW update, it´s happening during each round of golf, regardless playing 9holes or 18h. Sometimes it starts prompting even during a practice session before the round (when I proactively started the round on watch and then move to the driving range for warm up), however once I continue to the play, it works, however all the sudden it stops measuring.

Yesterday it did not start working once I started the round at all, then it worked on 2nd hole, then again nothing for couple of holes, then it restarted working on 9th hole, BUT - it registered 1st shot from the tee and counted the distance to the ball, HOWEVER it did not register the 2nd shot despite it was a full shot with hybrid with proper contact and it continued counting the distance of the 1st shot still - so at the end I reached the ball after 2nd shot at around 450m, which is totally wrong.

It is very annoying because I kind of know my standard distances with the clubs, so in case I hit the ball somewhere to side, thanks to the autoshot distance tracking I kind of know where aproximately to search for the ball - this is now not possible at all and I am losing lot of time.

As this "issue" is becoming pretty obvious by several other golfers (using FR 955 series, but I guess it´s happening also on other models, just the relevant firmware version is different), I would like to ask a specific question - is it possible to downgrade the FW version to previous one as I am sure the autoshot feature was working well with previous FW version? If yes - how to do it? If it´s not officially possible (due to upgrade policies) - would it be possible to re-issue previous FW version with new number as "optional" for those who care on the golfing/autoshot features on FR 955?

    Thank you for the feedback!

  • Just for additional information, my FR955 has been consistently showing me real time data regarding the distance that I am from my last shot. It has worked the last three rounds that I have played.

  • Fresh update:

went for another round yesterday (Sunday). Knowing the issue might come over and reading possible solutions, I restarted the watch before the round (turning off and on, no other changes). The GPS worked well and course lock was smooth and quick. HOWEVER, starting the game at hole 1, the autoshot did not work at all, unless I manually requested the watch to track. This way I went through front 9, then - aiming to have a quick break at the turn - I pressed "pause round", BUT the watch somehow restarted itself completely (blue triangle on screen)! After the break (15min max) I selected "Golf" again - and the watch realized a suspended round happened and allowed me to continue: little bit of surprise.

What was a serious surprise: after that in-game restart and resuming the game the autoshot was working totally perfect automatically all way until the end! All shots have been tracked, including those "soft/easy" ones around the greens which are normally an issue (it´s not full swing, so understandable).

Honestly, no idea what might have been "reset" inside the watch by the sudden restart...
