Massive battery drain after updating to 23.20

Good evening!

Does anyone know what could possibly happen? I've updated my FR955 Solar with 23.20 update, now it loses 20% of battery every hour. To be honest I cannot explain how mad I am about it. The reason I bought this watch was to have a tool that will help me to train for an ultra marathon, I'm scared to try to start a workout with GPS on when my FR955 Solar loses 20% of battery just being on my wrist.

  • Completely random suggestion but perhaps try the reinstall software option detailed in this forum somewhere. The other option if you haven't already done it is to disable Garmin share although I believe that bug is supposed to be fixed.

  • Thank you, my friend!

I already thied to do that. Reinstalling didn't help, switching Garmin share hepled a bit - now battery loses only 2% every hour. It's much better than it was, but still not as good as it was before the update. I really hope Garmin will roll out 23.21 as soon as possible.

  • My suggestion is for you to check with Garmin Product Support.

    Preferably, the US one.

Waiting for a new firmware release could be a waste of time if there is no active investigation into battery drain.

I was in your situation a few months ago and had to exchange my watch.

  • Thank you!

I will send them a message. What is strange is that when I workout, battery works fine. Today I tested it. I ran 1,5hrs at 5:50 per hour, my watch lost 8% or something. So the problem is when I do not run. Maybe it's a strange way to motivate me to run more. Well done, Garmin. :-)

  • Power off the device.. Wait 1 minute and turn it on again...This has been the fix every single time with massive battery drains.

  • Thank you all, guys!

It seems like battery drain is back to normal. I reinstalled firmware, switched off Garmin connect, switched off the device, waited for about a minute, switched the device on agian.
