Stamina - what is going on?

Is there someone who knows what Stamina is really measuring?

Here you are my readings from marathon (first 3h) Almost flat terrain. But quite strong Jet Lag

According to Stamina I should hit the wall around 2h mark, but as you can see I was able to keep running more or less similar pace over next 60 minutes. I have actually completed marathon in 4h13m

Does someone knows how I should read that Stamina reading? Is this something what is really telling me I am already running on fumes and should slow 1h ago to keep running? I have kept drinking every 2.5 km and eat about 30g of carbs every 20 - 25 minutes

I am of course aware about that explanation: Real-time Stamina | Garmin Technology

But that looks to me like marketing gibberish

  • i don't have a good answer, but i'd ask: what did you stamina show on a typical training run? i assume that you probably did at least training runs of 18-20miles. did it bottom out on those too?

    i know one youtube influencer show their stamina bottomed out on an ultra. 

    it's my total guess that it bases is largely on your prior training history. for me, it seems fairly legit. i'm a couple decades removed from my last marathon, but i do run half marathons and train with long runs in the 10-15 mile range recently. on these, it would extrapolate to a stamina hitting zero around 20-21 miles. tt seems pretty reasonable to me. i could certainly "gut out" (and likely get injured) try to attempt a marathon in my current condition, and for my singular data point, i at least think the stamina measurement is within reason. but as you show YMMV

    For number of another reasons my long runs before marathon were not in that 18-20 miles range (I use metric btw)

    Here is run of about 90 minutes, 2 weeks before Race

    At the end stamina was about 50%, which would suggest flat out at 3h mark. But this was 6 min/km pace vs 5:40 min/km during Marathon

    Another example from 4 weeks before Race with similar pace and stamina at 38% after 2h15m which extrapolated should flat out much closer to 4h mark

    I will keep searching for details what is going on with that Stamina metric.
