No VO2 Max etc after factory reset

I had to factory reset my watch via the 3 button method and I am in the process (tedious!) of restoring all my settings and screens.  Why is my VO2 Max and performance status not syncing over from Garmin Connect?  My lactate threshold appears on the watch but no other training data though it is all in Garmin Connect?

  • Did you use the backup and restore function to restore your settings after factory reset? At least on my 965 I didn't have to manually restore much after doing that.

  • Mine came over fine . I didn't restore a backup at all, I just did a re-pair etc with the app (you need to delete the device from the GC App and BT settings first) and then I did my settings from scratch (apart from the data screens which I have saved elsewhere and copy across to the sports profiles to the device) . Also my IQ watch face had to be redone.

And I did this three times as on two occasions i got the blue triangle issue again! I could probably do it in my sleep by now.

BTW I keep an excel sheet with all my settings , glance order, activity order and a copy of my device drive always. Saved my bacon many times (before here was this backup and restore) but good to have a backup process!

  • Thanks to you both.  Unfortunately, I didn't know there was a backup option.  I have used Garmin for 15 years and never had a crash this bad.  Will use it now!!  Unfortunately, when I deleted my device in GC and BT and re-connected my VO2, trainings readiness, HRV status etc, that all show in GC do not sync to watch.  Personal bests also did not sync.  What a pain!

  • I was unaware of that, too. Today, I tried loading the old back.-up that Garmin makes every day, and voila. All data, including VO2max and glace settings etc., was restored. I only lost the data from my factory reset until I loaded the backup this morning.

  • I make a copy of my device drive (I always did this before this backup option and continue to do so) as that way one has all the sports settings copied and in my experience that us what is the most cumbersome to sort (incl custom activity names you may have created). This is quite simple to then do as one just copies the files one had made a copy of back to the device drive.

I also have a spreadsheet with the order of my glances and activities as well as the settings for my IQ watch faces.

Sounds like overkill but definitely a nice to have.
