All,
I'm very sorry if you are experiencing increased battery drain. Please see Tips to Extend the Battery Life on a Garmin Fitness Watch, and if the tips do not help please reach out to Garmin Product…
Yes, this is a known problem with the 20.xx firmware and we've been complaining about it throughout the beta phase.
Have to admit I’m not impressed with this answer from Garmin. Sorry for your battery drain but switch off lot’s of stuff that you bought the watch for in the first place to save battery. Not really the…
The full battery is 100%. The power-saving mode drops by 3% overnight. It only costs 1% before upgrading. Can the developer of garmin explain the reason?
Not sure what the "long" term means in the battery widget, but I've had the battery app installed from 20.21 version through 20.23 and now on 20.26.
I'm not doubting your 18%, bad for you but it's pretty different from that the OP gave us. So if OP had 5%, you have 18%, it clearly isn't issue that is affecting everyone, or at least in similar way. Also displaying that you have some external CIQ things installed, it's not just Garmin in your watch anymore.
Yeah, I was doubtful myself but saw a post in the 255 forum mentioning it. It was just a question asking if folks have tried it. No need to lose your hair over it. I don’t think it’s that much of a stretch to look at any recently added features when battery drain suddenly crops up.
I doubt that it is a fact for everyone.
As I said a few pages ago, it appears to be mainly associated with the use of external sensors.
My guess is that a subprocess that communicates over ANT+ is not correctly cleaned up at the end of an activity.
I tested this by restarting the watch after each activity (I have both a HR strap and stryd footpod connected) and indeed this seems the case.
Without a restart the watch used about 0.7 to even 1%/hr (just as a watch, not including an activity). With a restart this was about 0.3-0.4% max.
I have BT enabled and phone connected all the time as well as wifi and use my own connectiq watchface so I guess 0.3-0.4 is reasonable in those circumstances. 0.8-1% most certainly is not.
I did a full factory reset of my watch this week.
Yesterday evening I charged my watch to 100% right before bed. After a 7 hour night I was down to 89%. An 11% drain overnight is definitely not normal, not even when SPO2 monitoring is enabled.
The exercise battery usage is normal for me. 10% per hours, which is what I've always had. But the idle battery consumption is definitely much higher with this firmware version.
Exactly, i didn't use any sensors. Last view in the following picture is 4 hours ago, right after a run. So projected 23%/day just watch mode .The other averages look better because i have power saving durring sleep, and also when i remember i restart the watch which seems to fix the issue until next run.
