Second run in 5 days, where watch not recording elevation or temperature changes

Anybody else experiencing this, 2 out of 4 runs in last 5 days watch has not recorded any change in elevation or temperature. Have some experience with this from my previous 745, so I did a soft reset, updated altimeter by GPS when it happened the first time.

  • Been happening to me since Aug 4th, which is two software updates ago (20.21 20.23 and now 20.26. Considering that it seemingly only happens on run activities, I might try a 'trail run' on the road tomorrow and see if it happens. Would mean not being able to do daily suggested runs, so that screws up any training plans people might be doing.

Still happening, heard nothing back from support, so the wait begins for them to release a firmware fix for the problem

  • Absolutely spot on elevation track this evening, so fingers crossed.

  • There is a work around to resolve the issue until Garmin makes a fix.

On your watch just add an elevation field to your activity.

Strangely it seemed to resolve the issue with temperature flat lining too.

    Works for me.

  • On your watch just add an elevation field to your activity.

EDIT: TL;DR I've had the elevation chart data page in my run activity forever, and it hasn't prevented the bug from affecting me.

If the fix only works when the elevation field is already in the activity, how would you know that was really the cause and not just a coincidence? Seems like the only way to know for sure is to have a run where this is already happening with no elevation field, to add an elevation field in the middle of run, and to verify after the fact that the elevation was flat before adding the field and normal afterwards. Is that what happened to you? Or did you just add the field between runs and the problem seemed to go away?

I had an *almost* flat elevation chart today on a hilly course (out and back with a hill at the beginning / end that’s around 400m, 2%-ish grade, and a similar hill at the turnaround point) Funnily enough there were tiny variations in the graph of about 0.2m, which kinda sorta correspond to the elevation profile (but only very roughly.) I noticed about 3/4 into the run when I happened to switch to the elevation chart data screen (*), which showed a completely flat profile. Switching to that screen didn’t seem to solve the problem.

(* I’ve had the elevation chart data screen in my run activity forever, including all the times when I’ve seen this problem. I’ve now seen this problem twice in 2 weeks, and a handful of times a couple of months ago.)

My temperature graph is completely flat, too.

  • Garmin_Sierra Still happening on version 20.29, I have elevation gradient included in my watch running screen. Plus even more annoying, my primary race disappeared again off my watch, so rather than taper for a race next weekend, my DSW are for a race 6 weeks away.

  • Same on my Garmin 955 but it only started this month with the previous update. So same problem, different update. This is a conspiracy!
