audio prompts pause my music

Hi all,

some unwanted behaviour here. I do not know what made it change, but here it is.

Config: FR955 Solar, Jabra Elite Active 65T bluetooth headphones, Fairphone 4 Android Smartphone

During runs earbuds are connected to phone and watch

Old situation: While running I listen to Spotify on my phone and get tempo and heartrate audio prompts on regular basis. My audio from spotify is paused, audio prompt is played, spotify is unpaused again so I can listen further.

New situation (started last week): Audio prompt pause Spotify, but does not start it again. I have to manually unpause it.

With runs of two hours, it is really *** because the HR prompt is every three minutes, and tempo prompt every km. So about 60-65 time manual unpause :-(

It must be a setting somewhere, but I cannot find it in the watch, nor in Garmin Connect nor in Jabra Elite app.

Anyone can help me out?

Garmin Connect App:  v5.2

Jabra Elite App (sound+):  5.19.1.0.11130.6b480a35e

Android: 13

FW Garmin FR955 Solar: 18.27

  • Oh oh, I found a thread from 4 years ago with the same issue (but no solution...)
    audio paused

  • I'm having this issue now too and never used to.. can we get clarification if future updates will fix

  • I too have the same issue. Went to garmin support to get help and they told me to synch my device before ending the conversation. Helpful

  • I have same issue since last week (FR 245) it was driving me mad , Here is a temp fix which has worked for me.  Go to settings on your watch --> Audio prompts --> Turn off Lap alert.  The lap alert will sound/display on your watch but not on your headphones and audio continues to play as before.   I hope it just needs debugging and will be fixed on next update.

  • I have an Instinct 2S with the same problem. For some music/podcast apps, the lap alert pauses the music. With YouTube Music it's even more annoying, it lowers the volume and there's no way to turn it back up. I have to force quit YT music and start it again, which isn't workable while I'm running or cycling.

I've just turned off Lap Alerts. I can't see any other solution.

  • When my music turns down instead of pausing if I use my headphone to pause the video/Spotify then unpause it it comes back at full volume. Annoying AF still but workable ..

Glad others are experiencing this I was worried my premium headphones were glitching

  • reply to all: which firmware is used? And which earbuds? Try to figure out the common aspect of the problem.

  • I have the same situation. It all started for me when I opened the connect app and it asked me to decide the appearance of it. It seems that I forget to use for a long time and some actualization were needed. The worst thing is that it started for me the pain during my running sessions to tap my earphones everytime y receive an audio prompt. Veri annoying indeed

  • I'm having the exact same problem, and it started about two weeks ago (with an Android update I believe, although I'm not certain).  On Spotify it causes the music or podcast to pause completely and it has to be manually unpaused.  With the TuneIn Radio app, it causes the volume to dim, and it has to be manually paused and unpaused to undim.  It happens with multiple different sets (and types) of headphones.  I make great use of the audio prompts and I don't want to disable them!

  • Please people, share your FW version, and used gear. I suspect Connect app, because that one is updated a few weeks ago.
