Inconsistent HR during trainings on Forerunner 955 Solar 17.26 and 18.23

My heart rate jumps up and down and all over the place during cyling, like there's some delay, see the attached screenshots.

3 seconds later

This weird HR reading happens during broadcasting my HR from the watch to Edge 840 or to PC with Zwift (via Wahoo Kickr). During a day or night there are no jumps and the spikes are smooth and relatable.

My watch sits firmly on my wrist, no moving there.

Also I find suggestions like "get HRM strap instead" out of place. My watch should be accurate enough, provided it functions as intended.

Is there a fix (coming) for this issue?

Thank you.

  • Same issue here on the trainer. Edge 830 w strap is 140+. Watch with no activity is 80-90. Switch the watch to treadmill activity to pick up the strap and it then matches the 830 and strap combo. I know the watch will react to HR changes slowly but essentially non responsive seems to be an introduced software issue. ver 18.23

  • Noticed this for a while, first twenty minutes heart rate is showing around normal no activity level even through it's really nearly double that then suddenly kicks in. Doesn't matter if it's connected to the edge 530 or everything being done by the watch.

  • I tried putting the watch off the wrist before the ride, as it was suggested a couple of times. It didn't work, the HR graph showed those crazy jumps again, just as if the watch was laggy or somehow froze for a few seconds before delivering the signal to the head unit.

    So yeah, still broken.

  • It also happened to me during cycling activities. For the first time my heart rate gave me inconsistent values...it stabilized above 200 beats per minuteScream
