Pool Swim activity. Skipping Lengths and not showing data prior to pause

Pool Swim activity. I stop to adjust goggles or my stroke is slightly off, the watch goes to the next length, skipping the one I'm on. 25 yard pool, I am 250 yards in, stop to adjust goggles, continue on. When I finish my lap, the watch distance shows 325 yard completed. This happens every pool swim, weather I pause to adjust goggles or take a moment to turn at wall. If I pause the watch to adjust goggles to avoid this, the watch shows a new lap when I continue the workout, unable to see my total distances and time, only what I've done since pause and continue point.

  • Hey, is it possible to edit swimming workout after ending on Garmin connect app (web or smartphone)? I would like to change detected style (sometimes is wrong detected) or combine/join some distance into one - because of puase while swimming or because error in auto detection lap.
It would be so useful. all data is gathered into watch and account so basicly it should be possible.

  • You can certainly edit the number of laps and that will automatically adjust the overall distance. You cannot combine two different exercises into one that I know of. I believe you can change the stroke type but I have not played with that so I do not know for sure.

  • Garmin Connect is very poor only allows you edit the most basic of swim parameters.

This is annoying as the Garmin 955 is very sensitive (more so than my previous Garmin 245) and will report an extra length, or two lengths with very different times (say 10 seconds which is impossible, and 40 seconds) but the sum of which equals the normal length time (25 + 25 seconds). No idea why it happens.

If you want to edit the swim activity, then export the activity and edit it with: https://www.swimmingwatchtools.com/ . It's a web-based tool. After editing and saving, reimport it back in again to Garmin Connect. You'll have to delete the original activity before you can reimport. The tool will split lengths, join lengths, and loads more, and recalculate pace, etc.

If it were not for this tool the Garmin watch would not be so useful for swimming! No idea why Garmin can't do something similar to what one developer guy Stephane did.
