Why the (9) in 955?

Hi guys!

Any one knows why Garmin choose '9' for this series model in its title?

These are generally reserved for the flagship watches in the Forerunner series.

910XT, 920XT, 935, 945, 945, 955, 965.

Ford did the same with the Maverick. The car from the 1970s, now the truck in the 2020s.

Higher the number, higher the specs and price is a Garmin way.

2xx has traditionally been just a running watch without multisport.
xx just entry level watches.

And I would say traditionally then the two not yet mentioned:
6xx higher end non-multisport watches
7xx lower end multisport watches

(1xx, 3xx, 4xx not used lately, 8xx never used as far as I remember)

It didn't use to have, also there has been limitations on power meter support. Notice that I said traditionally. With these offerings I don't think there's much room anymore for 6xx or 7xx Forerunners.
