[14.13] No Lactate Threshold/VO2Max updates anymore?

Has anyone recently (since the 14.12beta/14.13 for example) gotten any updates regarding lactate thresholds and/or VO2Max?

My VO2Max is unchanged since the 1st of januari which, while theoretically possible, is VERY unlikely given the training...

Also, I now had a number of trainings where I'd expect a LTHR update but nothing... Again today, interval session which I was sure would give me an update but nothing.

So while 'the latest release should contain a fix for the LTRH update on the watch not syncing to connect' for me the fix seems to be 'hey, screw you user.. we're just not giving you any updates at all anymore!'.

I am REALLY getting fed up with this freaking watch and don't trust it at all anymore...

  • My VO2Max has shifted up by 1 in January so I can't say I've experienced this issue. I haven't done anything with lactate thresholds so can't comment there unfortunately.

It would actually be really helpful to get information on how the VO2Max gets calculated using the specific data we get through activities to be able to track this kind of thing (that way you'd know for sure if it's a bug or if it's training related).

  • My VO2Max also updated with 14.13.You can see small VO2Max changes on a graph that is available on the watch when enter the VO2Max category through the Training Status widget.

    I didn't get LTHR update.

  • Thanks for the comments, perhaps it's just a coincidence that it's not updated (I also see very small fluctuations in the training status widget and race prediction times are also going down (as in faster) so I guess the trend is that something IS changing..

  • I know we shouldn't have to do this , but using Runalyze is quite helpful as one can see the VO2 max (from Garmin file) to two decimals. I haven't had a LTHR change for months. strangely I did a half marathon during that time at well below the indicated LTHR both pace and HR

  • I after 6 months of use I have never received a lactose threshold number or any updates. V02 had been steady for multiple months despite shifts in training intensity, although to be fair I’m off the bike for the winter and am just running right now.

  • I also did not get a LTHR update since 14.13. my VO2max is slowly but steadily increasing though.

  • My last LTHR update was Nov. 8. It is at 174 @ 6:09. I basically never run at that HR. Some of my fastest 6 mile runs have been at 6 min. miles but at like 165 hr. So it seems wrong to me, but I also don;t expect an update as I do not run at such HRs.

My VO2 has been increasing slowly since I bought the watch in june. A total of 5 points. I increased 1 since 14.13, I increased 1 on the previous FW. No issues here on that front. If you want to see the daily increases(and decreases) use runalyze.com. I would not trust any LTHR being calculated regardless. VO2 is iffy too but at the very least it does show you if you are running faster at lower HRs and has been tested to be within 5% accuracy.

I love the watch, maybe it also helps my fitness has been improving this past half-year I have had the watch.

  • My VO2Max value and graph are progressively changing (in the training status and race time prediction glances) after each run, but I have stopped receiving LTHR, Pace and Power update requests at the end of tempo and threshold runs (with the option to accept or disregard) as was the case in the majority of them. I last received that on the 23rd of December and I use the watch daily (plenty of workouts in the meantime).

  • Nothing in this watch works right. Maybe with the next update they will screw up the GPS so that we can throw it in a bin and call it a day.

  • yeah, do have a runalyze account... At the activities it shows a way higher VO2Max then in the 'general' section so not sure how to interpret that. Also (slowly) increasing there.

I expect to get at least an increased VO2Max within a week or 2 as I have some more intervals coming up and feel fit.

LTHR, who knows what to expect. Roll the dice and if all stars are aligned you might get lucky I guess.
