Airplane mode should disable transmission, but when connecting to an external HR strap, the watch is just receiving.
You assume that I turn on airplane mode to save power.
In fact, I just wanted to compare the heart rate of the watch and the heart rate of the HR band, and it was not until I finished the exercise that…
When the user turns on airplane mode, the user wants the phone to be able to cut off any connecti
That depends on the user. I turn on airplane mode when I want to turn off any transmission…
Hi there
You are commenting an issue that is more than two months old, so you should really create a new message if you have a probllem.
Having said that, then you are wrong. Wireless is Wireless only (WIFI) - If you read some of the previous answers you will se that the definition of wireless does not apply to Ant+ and Bluetooth.
The rules of Airplane mode - is only WIFI and not bluetooth LE (because it is short range and low energy). Regarding ANT+ the watch does not SEND anything it only receives so it is not a wireless issue.
Most people want only disable bluetooth, ANT+ and Wifi because they want to prolong the battery life. Under normal cercumstances a Bluetooth LE devices uses so little energy when not linked to anything - that it really does NOT matter to disable it.
IF one really wants to turn it of.. then a watch that can do Stealth-mode is the only option.
So bluetooth in your opinion is not a wireless communication?
WIFI is a PROTOCOL, not
Wireless is Wireless only (WIFI)
Can you read what I have posted before writing wrong things? Click on this magic link and read by yourself what garmin say about AIRPLANE MODE www8.garmin.com/.../GUID-700E76C4-F7E2-4984-8199-D59D6A31DFB9.html
That's WRONG as the previous link will say to you:
IF one really wants to turn it of.. then a watch that can do Stealth-mode is the only option.
So I hope now you are aware that AIRPLANE MODE have to turn off bluetooth connection and that is working as expected, but the problem is sometimes it dosen't do that or even worse turn ON bluetooth at random.
About that:

Maybe I don't want to recive notification that have vibration and so on, or If I want to extend battery life is my right to turn OFF every WIRELESS connection (because the only WIRED connection I have is when I'm recharging the device)

I forget to comment that statement. If the bug is still there what we need to do? Open a new thread every day?
Good that we can see that the problem is still there after two months and it's not new ;)
Call it whatever you like. You are still missing the point. Wireless mode applies only to WIFI when it comes to AIRPLANE MODE.
Bluetooth does not because it is regulated onto Short range and Low Energy status, and ANT+ because it does not send out signals but only receives.
So whatever you say - Sorry, but Garmin is likely not going to change it.
As stated earlier it is not considered as a bug and should therefore not be treated as such. You are ofcourse allowed to dissagree but it won't change.
On several of the newer watches you cannot turn of bluetooth because of the battery usage, it simply does not matter turn it off.
Furthermore the FAA is later this year going to change the narrow band regulations ( = WIFI) so wifi will be allowed on all planes - So the only thing that goes into flightmode is the option of enabling/disabling the SIM/eSIM = being able to make phonecalls..
The changes are by the request from The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) whom no longer consider any kind of "wireless"
communication as a risk - There are some that dissagree on that matter, so not all Airline companies are going to allow all communication.
Several european airplane companties are planning to install their own 5G communication hardware - mostly for Business Class this is expected arounbd september/october.
Okey, now I know that you can't read or understand a basic sentence...
Anyone who tries to activate airplane mode will be hanged in front of the FAA headquarters!
I'll stop reading or answering your messages because it's a waste of time for everybody, continue reading your FAA statements
I fully understand that you do not like the answer ;-)
And I can assure you that FAA is not going to hang anyone regardless of one does fully understand what Airplainemode or Flightmode is or not. I promise you, for this matter: you are safe!!!
If you turn on Flightmode on an Apple-device the message is the same: Apple states: turns off all radios except for Bluetooth.
LINK: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204234
Apple also states:
If the airline allows it, you can use Wi-Fi and Bluetooth while in Airplane Mode. You just need to turn them on separately.
Ohhhhh sorry, I thought we were in Garmin forum talking about Garmin device. How dumb can I be to didn't think what Apple was doing on their dumb device.
Now, as we see that you know how to read documentation that you like, try to look at Garmin manual that I posted a few message above and tell me what you read.
PS on my garmin device I only have wifi(always turned OFF because I don't need it) and bluetooth, what I'm supposed to turn OFF with airplane mode ON in your opinion?
Hint: Airplane mode is now a common word to identify "turining OFF all WIRELESS connection without turing OFF the device (and don't ruin my life with notifications and other thing)" as told in Garmin manual, but some manufacturer are free to leave on some connection if you have very expensive bluetooth airpods and you are unable to reactivate only bluetooth to use them.
PPS when I turn ON airplane mode in my Iponzi it turn OFF wifi AND bluetooth (because as the manual says it remember my choice). But as we already know you are a troll or you have very poor reading ability...
I fully understand that you do not like the answer ;-)
I like the answers that are formulated based on facts, manual says ABC than I expect ABC not XYZ. And I don't accept answer talking about MNO to justify XYZ.
And for the third time: airplane mode on GARMIN device turn OFF ALL WIRLESS CONNECTION, the problem is that sometimes it leaves bluetooth ON or reactivate it after a few time, that's the problem...
I added Airplane mode to the controls to see what happens on my watch. As soon as I press it , it says on the watch face "Airplane mode disables all wireless communications (Bluetooth, WIFI, ANT)". I can see that after selecting this, the BT indication on the watch face went off and looking at my phone the watch is not connected to BT. Additionally if I go to settings on the watch under connectivity and music they are greyed out and it shows Airplane Mode enabled. I tried reconnecting from the phone to the watch and it doesn't connect, indicating the BT is out of range.(well it is off in this case) I will leave it in this mode for a while to see if the BT radio turns back on. FR955 Non Solar, FW 14.13.
After what period does yours seem to come back on?
You are referring to garmin manuals - and you mention ""turining OFF all WIRELESS connection" - yes that what is says in most of the manuals for garmin watches. The problem here is that you are making an assumption that Garmins term WIRELESS is bluetooth - which it is not. That is also why the Garmin Tactic series got Stealth Mode!
The problem here is that Garmin does not clearly explain what WIRELESS is.
End-Of-Message!
