13.21 (and 13.22) navigation screen issue... again?

Ok, so there is 13.21 firmware.

Main change for me was possibility to pan/zoom from the maps screen directly (as on oryginal Epix). It has been implemented.

But... what then? i cant see possibility to choose to navigate to a point from that screen (like on epix).  So it is still partly useless.

Long press on start button does nothing. Short - changes pan/zoom type.

You can hotkey navigation, but it isnt it.

I am doing something wrong?

  • Holding Start from the Map activity only changes the pan/zoom option.  From Run / Navigation / Use Map - long press on Start shows the option to Go or Save Location

  • 13.22 and it somewhat working.

I have done short test (inside without gps fix) on trail run profile

Map screen -> tap for pan/zoom -> move on map -> long touch on crosschair -> not working

Map screen -> tap for pan/zoom -> move on map -> long press start button -> not working

Map screen -> long hold up for menu -> click on Pan/zoom -> move on map -> long touch on crosshair -> not working

Map screen -> long hold up for menu -> click on Pan/zoom -> move on map -> long press start button -> WORKING!

I maybe find some time tommorow for record video.

  • OK! Now we are getting somewhere.

"Map screen -> tap for pan/zoom -> move on map -> long press start button -> not working" - I was not aware, that this option is even there! I confirm, that this is really not working (fw 13.15). Then it should be reported to Garmin.

"Map screen -> long hold up for menu -> click on Pan/zoom -> move on map -> long press start button -> WORKING" - I am glad, that we agreed on this.

    Thanks!

  • Map screen -> long hold up for menu -> click on Pan/zoom -> move on map -> long press start button -> WORKING" was NOT working for me on 13.21. Maybe something on my watch (i have custom maps)

  • Ok here is short video.

Trail run profile - map screen -> on both watches as a start point

BTW Epix buttons are so superb even after all those years and abuse :)

Of course we can now enter here by menu with navigation (or better -with shortcut) but again, it would be simpler and better as on old epix.

  • I was today on 2h trail run with scenario in which in i started with course navigation, but after a  while i have to choose diffirent destination and was using pan/zoom a lot.

And it is working nice now. Of course still it would be better if we can choose target from touch start pan/zoom, but it is finaly somewhat usable.

Addtionaly no crashes and freezes. Watch was working as intended. I can finaly ditch epix :)
