13.21 (and 13.22) navigation screen issue... again?

Ok, so there is 13.21 firmware.

Main change for me was possibility to pan/zoom from the maps screen directly (as on oryginal Epix). It has been implemented.

But... what then? i cant see possibility to choose to navigate to a point from that screen (like on epix).  So it is still partly useless.

Long press on start button does nothing. Short - changes pan/zoom type.

You can hotkey navigation, but it isnt it.

I am doing something wrong?

  • Long press start should trigger "go to" option. I haven't updates yet, still in 13.15 beta, works properly for me.

  • Looks like you're pressing Start->Map and trying to navigate from there. Long pressing Start won't give you an option to navigate. You need Start->Navigate.

  • unfortunately the same thing for me too. By double tapping on the screen, there is no longer the possibility to activate the +/- keys to zoom with the touch screen. How sad....

  • What activity profile are you using?

  • Using the Trail Run activity profile, I was able to find the "Go" option with the long press of the Start/Stop button when using buttons and with touch screen.

Trail Run > Trail Run Options > Navigation > Use Map > Long Press Start/Stop button

I was also able to change from the Pan/Zoom option with the short press of the Start/Stop button.

  • "go to" optio

I had a trail run today. I dont have third hand to record this on phone :) but:

For me it is not working. When i scroll to map screen i can tap to activate pan/zoom but choosing location and holding start button does nothing. Holding crosshair on screen does nothing too.

So basicly i am missing now fast ability to change my trail run destination. I have to make 5 clicks on watch to navigate to a point when there already was on old epix an option to do this from map with two clicks. I can make it a little bit shorted by using hotkey to enter navigation menu.

Ok  possibility to activate browsing map from the map screen is nice, but it could be 1000% better.

I hope in next firmware there will be possibility to hold crosshair with finger to activate "go to" function.

  • This works for me and sets a route to the chosen point - but if I switch to the map view, to check the route and zoom out 3 times (without any other interaction) I end up in the sea in the middle of nowhere - somewhere south of Ghana (but I'm in the UK)

Also, once the route is set, in the map view trying the up / down / left / right pan options (using buttons) does nothing - but I can touch screen drag the map.

It's a shame the map implementation still has these glitches, it was one of the reasons for purchasing the 955 over a 255.

  • is talking about starting navigation from the menu... So long press up during an activity -> Navigation -> Use Map.

There you can select a location as normal and start navigation.

You are talking about simply starting it directly from the maps screen in the activity. Long pressing start doesn't work there, Double tapping indeed brings the pan/zoom onscreen buttons and then the menu can't be activated (because then panning/zooming is active for the button, and pressing back takes you out of it)

And yeah, I see how that would be handy... but there is another way to start navigation so at least a workaround.

  • I did this from inside the Run activity - as outlined by Garmin-Kevin - which worked but then encountered the zoom out bug and issues with the non functional pan options.
