Touchscreen becomes unresponsive after few days

Since my 955 has been updated to FW 12.27 I started to notice that after some time (usually around 2 weeks), touch becomes unresponsive. When it happens, it is not possible to select any widget glance by tapping on it and also scrolling becomes more laggy.

Button-based navigation within the UI remains working even after touch-based is broken.
Restart of the watch fixes the issue for next few days.
Before 12.27 I haven't experienced this issue.

Has anyone else noticed this?

  • I have the following glances on my 955: Heart Rate; Health Folder (Body battery; Health Snapshot; Heart Arte; HRV Status; Pulse OX: Stress; Respiration; Sleep); Sleep; Training Readiness; Training Status; HRV Status; Performance Condition (VO2); Race Calendar; Main Race: Steps; This week; Last activities; ABC; Sunset; Weather; Battery Graph (IQ); Floors Climbed; Notifications

  • fine here too on 14.17. my glances are: HR, body battery, solar intensity, performance, training status, training readiness, HRV status, FOLDER Extra Stats with UserStatsWidget, Battery Graph, My Week, Pulse Ox), Last Run, sleep weather, my day advanced, battery monitor, notifications

  • I reply also there because I'm also have the issue

    • For me it's stuck/freezing in cases:
      • During activities(run/bike)
      • When the watch was charging from 220W
      • When the watch was charging/connected to the laptop
      • I wear the watch without interacting with them
      • At night when I slept(2am) and the watch was on my wrist;
      • During factory reset(on the progress indicator)
    • When the watch stuck/freezes:
      • Putting to the charge doesn't update any information on the screen;
      • Pulse Ox sensor also not working(doesn't flash green light)
      • The battery usage is quite high - maybe some computations happening
    • When the watch is stuck/freeze the only way to do something with it is to hold the top-left button(hard reset). It turns off the watch. After that:
      • In 95% of the cases turning on its back (hold top-left button) is not working. Almost always I need to wait for 30-60min to it on back again.
      • The watch doesn't recognise the factory reset combination keys. Just nothing happens(but I'm waiting for a sound to unhold the first button). The factory reset combination works fine when the watch is working(not freezing).

    The watches was twice in Garmin Support and they didn't find any issues.

    My question thread forums.garmin.com/.../the-watch-start-to-freeze-from-14-15:

  • 1. Yes

    2. Yes

    3. Taiwan

    Happened today for the first time. Touchscreen mostly non-responsive, responding randomly once or twice where it looked like it was trying to move over a few minutes. Then nothing for the next 5 min before doing a power cycle.

    Firmware: 14.20

  • I've just noticed this issue today. This solution (turning touch screen on and off) helped for me too. I'm on version 14.20.

  • Any news? It's unfortunately happening to me too. A little embarrassing that's taking place on  such expensive device

  • After finishing a tennis activity, touchscreen becomes extremely unresponsive and drains battery very quickly after finishing a tennis activity.

  • I just bought a new FR 955, did all the updates and configurations - and a day later the touchscreen became extremely unresponsive. Oh, what a letdown!

  • Never had an issue with mine. BTW Garmin-Sierra is the moderator of this forum now , not Kevin. You can see her link on some other threads
