13.15 general observations

thought i'd start a general discussion thread here (as opposed to bug reports):

quick things i've noticed:

  • new font for glances (smaller? thankfully still readable for these old eyes)
  • the Solar intensity widget looks better with a line plot rather than using bars for every update interval
  • as noted by others, Maps zoom seems to work a little better. a tap to the screen brings up the zoom buttons. from what i understood, the Fenix7/Epix2 can have a double tap to zoom in? that doesn't appear to work yet on the 955
  • it may be my imagination, but the interface feels more fluid again like the original FW. i recall the first update seemed to make things a bit more sluggish. not painfully so, but it seems that things are back to where they were several months ago.
  • as typical, my glances got all sorted in weird order (not a huge deal)
  • the watch reinstalled some previously uninstalled watch faces

what have you all noticed?

  • Thanks Derek, so far I've noticed:

    • The scale on the heart rate widget graph is now correct
    • When deleting a notification the "line" on the left goes to a notification and not the header so its easy to delete the next one
    • ABC Glance seems to not be "frozen" now
    • It shows up correctly in the GC app as 13.15 (with 12.27 we saw 12.23 for a while still)
    • Agree on the 'feeling more responsive'
    • Navigate using location on map is fixed (not rebooting the watch anymore)
    • Widget graphs tweaked a bit? (Axis scale fixed and lines colored, for example RHR graph)
    • Zoom controls touchscreen mode are working now (zoom out was messed up in the past)
    • Firstbeat software also updated
  • If I understand correctly now you can touch + or - to zoom in or zoom out on a map?

Anyone tried a run to see if running power from wrist added? I just saw the change log about the latter.

  • Yup, touching + and - works fine now... (Also, you can touch the 3 dots in the upper right to switch zoom/pan mode... not sure if that was already the case. Not really needed with touchscreen but consistent at least).

And power fields are indeed available now, various options (avg, 30s, power gauge, etc).

  • Anyone already run with the new beta software version? I'm interested in sign in for the beta program, but I'm a bit afraid because I have a marathon next Sunday and I'm interested to know if the accuracy of gps remains, pace responsiveness and all the good stuffs of multiband gps. Thanks in advance

  • As of now 13.15 is only rolling out to beta subscribers or to everyone?

  • if i were in your shoes. i'd wait. i was glad i did so before my backpacking trip. i'm hopeful this new beta will square away the bugs cited and not introduce new ones, but Garmin's track record for not introducing new bugs has been spotty lately.

  • Clocks widget has a new look and feel. Quite nice.

  • I’m getting so confused about Garmin wanting us to log issues like this in the main forum when not everyone is running the beta.
