Maps Manager Bug

Maps Manager prompts me to add a map but leaves it in queue without downloading it!

- Does that mean I should pay for that already-on-watch listed map?

- Use Garmin Express??

  • Hi,

I am experiencing this issue - here are my answers to your questions:

1: Does your watch's Map Manager show "Update Available", but Garmin Express indicates that the maps are already up to date?

    Yes

2: Does your watch's Map Manager show that an update is "Queued", but the update fails?

It shows as "Queued" but then doesn't try to update it

3: Are you experiencing something different? If so, please explain:

I'm also trying to download the Japan map. I did it through Garmin Express and it seems to be on there now. It says on the watch though that there is an update available. When I try to update it, it shows a message saying that an additional 0.0GB is required for the update. It then shows as "Queued" and nothing more happens.

4: If necessary, may we have permission to reach out via email?

    Yes

5: If necessary, may we have access to your Connect account?

    Yes

6: In which country are you located?

    United Kingdom

    Thanks

  • This bug is still there. Just update my Europe map to 2023.10 via garmin express because the map manager wifi download was horribly slow. Even though it’s all up to date map manager still says I should download 2023.10!  Surely fixing a bug like this shouldn’t be too hard?

meanwhile the new contours and shading features look nice but aren’t as good as bespoke maps from talkytoaster or freizeitkarte. Which is a shame.

  • Still having this issue on my 955 solar.

It will show update, connect to WiFi start the update but never gets more than 5% done and it just says sync failed.

Please feel free to reach out if required. I have access to Garmin express but I would like this to work as it was described when purchasing.

  • The slow downloads of maps using the on-watch map manager is probably because the 955's wifi is not designed to operate particularly fast, to preserve battery. But I would like them to fix the issue with the download not working - and yes, the issue of a non-existant update. I guess this could be something like a variable not being set correctly.
