Just ran a ran a 1:29:41 half marathon but race prediction still showing 1:34:27!!

Garmin Forerunner 955 (FW: 12.23)

This another bug?

  • I agree, the Vo2max have to be correct in order to give a good calculation.

  • Yes I get a race prediction being wrong, but I consistently run faster on my normal easy runs. It cant be VO2 max, im already at 67 and the predictions are so slow. Right now my watch says 22:04 for the 5k (~7 minute miles), I ran 3, 6-minute miles for an ~18-minute 5k on the back half of a 6 mile run where I averaged 6:17. Ive had other ~6:30 6-7 mile runs as well. These were not races, just me by myself. Still my prediction is 7 minute miles on a 5k?! I am averaging under 7:30 per mile per month the past 3 months. It is meaningless and it seems like there is no relation to my daily activities.

  • You are still missing the point - a proper race prediction cannot be calculated as Vo2Max is not being updated correctly.

  • I feel like VO2 max is fairly correct, I compare it to runalyze. If anything it could be slightly high by a few points but that would mean the predictions would be faster, not slower. There is no way anyone with a 67 VO2 max would run 7 minute miles on a 5k unless they were injured or wearing a weighted vest.

edit: Originally used the verbiage "Higher, not lower" and that could be misconstrued.
