FR 955 Series: Training effect calculation is wrong AFTER 12.23 software (may include 12.27 and 13.15 sw)

At the request of duplicate the topic here - from the beta 12.2 forum!
Instead of fixing the problem, Garmin is engaging in bureaucracy!

Because some of you have reported seeing this on the latest(non-beta) production software, let's please have you start a thread in the main forum for this device:

Training effect calculation is wrong! After the update, this indicator began to be considered incorrect relative to the past similar workouts.

Today, August 22, there was a training session. The workout was in zone 1 with an average heart rate of 135 bpm. Training Effect wrote that he trained his lactate threshold well. O_O IS IT? IT'S A JOKE? The run was strictly in zone 1. My lactate threshold in the app is 176! Until update 12.2 and complete data reset from the watch, Incl. there was no such training!

today's training - 24.08.22. what the ***?!?! WTF?! What is another intense workout? what the *** is a vo2max increase?!? It's a Base workout! This was before the update to 12.2. Garmin please take note and fix this ASAP!

  • Could be related to this.

    >Fixed an issue where sport zones for heart rate could not be modified.

  • Thanks! I figured I simply missed it. Well, hopefully there's a fresh new 955 change log coming soon ...

  • This is really bad, Garmin needs to fix this problem fast. I have a marathon in November and I'm following the suggested workouts, yesterday the clock said I would have to do a limit run, I was 99% in zone 5 and the workout was classified as base. Today he recommended the limit again because he considered yesterday's training low, which is not true.
  • And sometimes base runs are reflected as Vo2 Max....very strange

  • This correction has to be quick because it impacts all training planning. I don't understand why these problems don't happen often on the fenix line.

  • You are right. I went to Fenix forum. Nobody is reporting.

Funny that different watches can have different codes and algorithms.

They should be portable across different watches.

The Fenix and Forerunner are offered in different lines. Perhaps the problem is in a module which is not present in the Fenix. What's annoying is there is not much communication from Garmin.

  • I have the same problem. Worked fine before updating the firmware to 12.23. Now easy zone runs are labeled as treshold and tempo runs as V02max. My zones are defined manually as percentage of treshold heart rate. As an example, Garmin connect says that I have spent a significant time above lactate treshold for an activity in which my max heart rate is lower than my lactate treshold and all time is spent in zone 2 or 3.

  • I'm having this issue. Today, for example, a 1 hour run with the majority of time in Zone 2 resulted in an aerobic training effect of 4.5 and an acute load of 256.

  • A friend of mine has an Epix 2 and he said he started getting the same TE errors. Would that be same product line as Fenix?
