Step counting and stair climbing during cycling activity

During my mountain biking activities I usually wear the watch but I use my Garmin 530 to record the activity. When I finish the activity many times the watch says that I have taken hundreds of steps and that I have climbed many stairs, when clearly it is not true.

Shouldn't Garmin be smart enough to correct that data afterwards?

I understand that if they have my cycling activity, with all the data (cadence, speed, heart rate, everything...) it should not be very complex to eliminate the metrics taken by the 955 during that period.

Is Garmin working on this feature?

Thanks!
