Unbelievable after a month nothing else is fixed. All the other bugs are still there. Rage

  • maybe on FR firmware works team of 2 people and on firmware of fenix 200 ;)

  • Yeah, they could have better called it 10.20 or something because so far it seems more like  a minor update with very few things actually improved or fixed. Blegh, getting kinda annoyed with the FR955 experience so far.

  • Just the way a new firmware is announced shows that the fenix team is much more professional in dealing with the bugs. Unfortunately the fenix is too uncomfortable for me to wear at night due to the weight and the metal frame. Otherwise Otherwise I would skip the forerunner junk.
Why do the fenix and forerunner differ so fundamentally in the operation? Ich think e.g. the touch operation of maps and palm detection. Whether that will ever be aligned?

  • It just feels as if they tried to rush and release it with the FR945 base code and make that touch enabled somehow instead of using the fenix7 base code which is already well rounded.

I still expect and hope that functionality will be kinda leveled so that they behave similarly on most areas but so far the FR955 has been a bit of a sh*tshow imo. And also this firmware release adds to the insult.

  • i hope the difirences arent "from design" and it all will be equal at the end. FR945 was very good and competent watch. Beside touch i dint missed much.

  • Exactly, same here. My FR945 experiences were fine... little less frequent FW updates compared to the Fenix line but really perfectly ok and also functionality wise most was similar. That's why at the FR955 release I thought "Ah well, they'll fix it"...

Still think so, but the amount of money I'm willing to bet on it is decreasing by the day...

  • have been doing my regular refreshes on Garmin Connect and no update available. yet, i don't know why i'm that interested and anxious to get it updated: the list is pretty meager and doesn't suggest any of the major bugs have been fixed.

sadly, i have to agree with all of the complaints. having owned the 735XT, 935, 945LTE, and now 955, the trend of being a "beta tester" for Garmin has gotten stronger. my 955 experience thus far has been similar to the 945LTE. great hardware and potential, but failed and/or slow delivery of a stable working product.

the 945LTE, even after a year, didn't receive many bug fixes. hop over to that forum and you will see many dissatisfied early adopters.

the 955 Solar has been a great watch for what i do on my common days (running), but the niggling issues of crashing when using the Maps is a big deal to me. i'm scared to even consider using maps when i backpack next month. as much as i wanted a touch interface for the maps, at least the maps were stable on my 945LTE.

when i had my 935, its updates/bug fixes seemed to very much parallel the Fenix 5. i don't see why this trend didn't continue.

@lrmer73: i don't think the palm detection will work because the 955 doesn't have an ambient light sensor, but the lack of touch/gesture functionality similar to the Fenix/Epix is baffling. (so is the half-baked solar intensity widget with so much less info than the one on the Fenix 7/Epix2)

  • Been waiting for the FR 955 for a long time to replace my loved FR 935 but after now having it I am struggling to like it. I have always had an FR model for all of my running them a Fenix X series for everything else. I now have added the Epix 2 to the lineup and am presently surprised how comfortable it is for every day wear.

  • Got it in one right there, exactly how I’m feeling.
