Garmin and Stryd Power

It is frustrating that the 955 does not support Stryd power natively. As a long term Stryd user I really hoped this would be the breakthrough moment. But no. To add to this frustration, I have now discovered, after working with Garmin support, that the source of the post activity battery drain on the 955 is the Stryd Zone connect IQ data field. So I've had to delete this and now cannot get the Stryd power figures on the 955 at all. So rather than a step forwards, it currently seems the 955 is a step backwards with Stryd compatibility. Hopefully this will all be resolved soon.

Given that Garmin's focus is likely to be on developing it's own native power now I'd be surprised if there's any rush to improve interaction with Stryd.

Strange, I have no battery issues with Stryd. I have been amazed the first two weeks with my FR955 about how little battery drain there is during my runs. On a 2h trail run with GPS, HR chestband, Stryd and phone connected I lost only 6% battery. On a 50min run I it drains 2%, I think this is very good. I have run all my runs this two weeks with Stryd connected with no issues.

Interesting. Were you using the Stryd Zone connect IQ data field, or the Stryd Workout app?

I’m also not seeing any issues with battery drain. Using both the IQ data field and the Stryd Workout app.

Fully charged Friday to 100%, and have done multiple activities, and all the runs have used Stryd and the IQ field, and at 76% as of now.

Both. I am using Stryz Zones for my daily runs (easy and LR) and Stryd Workout for my intervals etc. No noticeable difference in battery drain.

My first week I ran 7 runs over 7 days, 8h with GPS, Stryd, HR sensor and phone connected on all runs. I had 21% battery left after this period. I think it's very good.

Same here - no battery drain issues using Stryd with my 955 solar.

I don't see any battery issues with Stryd Zone connect IQ data field on my FR955. Works as expected.

As for power support, well, there is no standard in running power. Garmin, Stryd etc. uses different algorithms and different factors to calculate power. For example, for me Garmin shows 305W while Stryd 242W, and using it in Garmin training etc. may be misleading.

Thanks. So why is the connect IQ data field giving me battery drain? I'll go back to Garmin Support. And I know there is no standard when it comes to running power, but I'd rather stick with Stryd, see here: www.outsideonline.com/.../

Mine is as follows:

Power Averaging - Real Time Power
Power Averaging (Secondary Display) - None
Username - SET
Visual Zone Bar - Off
Numerical Zone - On
