Forerunner 955 Series: Poor HRM Pro Connectivity During Run Activities

Hi there,

I recently bought the Forerunner 955 (FR955) and have noticed that in all my runs, the Garmin HRM Pro connects initially and then drops for most of the run activity. I’ve included the run activities as well as a list of the sensors that I paired. Just to note, I did do all the software updates before using the FR955 and the version for all activities are 10.10.

  • The Garmin HRM Pro had the best connectivity but there was still a large part of the activity where it had connectivity issues

  • For this last activity only, I paired the Stryd foot pod via Bluetooth and it was stable the entire activity without dropping whereas the Garmin HRM Pro had limited activity as per the above run activities

Sensors paired for Above Runs:

  1. Samsung Galaxy Buds (2738)
  2. Stryd footpod with wind detection
  3. Garmin HRM Pro

Cycling Activity Analysis

The same Garmin HRM Pro is stable and has no issues.

Sensors paired for above rides:

  2. Garmin Vector 3 power pedals
  3. Garmin HRM Pro

Thanks,

  • I have paired the FR955 and HRM TRI for 5 activities.

Sigh on the last run, they disconnected near the start of run.

After using Garmin Pay towards end of run, watch exited to main watch face. Click the start button again, HRM TRI connected again.

That means the battery on HRM TRI is good. I just changed it recently anyway.

  • Hi

Happy to be emailed, have my activities accessed.
    im based in Spain

  • Run + HRM Tri  -> Pause -> Garmin Pay -> Watch Face -> Resume run but HRM Tri not connected again

  • Saw today "FP connected" (Footpod I'm guessing) and the HRM Pro disconnected. I then went into settings - sensors - HRM Pro and switched connected off and after a few seconds on again and then it went back to working. Hope that can work for others also until Garmin can fix this bug.

  • It's not only with HRM PRO,my Polar H10 have some issues today on a threshold session,it was connected via ANT +

    Please try the following:

    1. Remove ALL sensors from your Sensors & Accessories menu.
    2. Power off the watch using the Controls Menu, then power it back on. (Do not hard reset the watch as this will reset your HRV status and affect other Wellness Data.)
    3. Add your sensors again in whatever order you choose.
    4. Perform some test runs.  Be sure so save these to your watch and sync them to your account (especially if there are issues).
    5. Follow up in this thread and let me know if the issue continues.

If there is anyone else experiencing this issue with the HRM-Pro dropping connection during a run, please perform these steps and feel free to comment with the results.

  • Hi , this worked for the Garmin HRM Pro Plus and stryd pod but not for my headphones. The headphones play two songs perfectly, then the watch shows that the music is playing but no music plays - yes my galaxy pro buds were fully charged and did not die. I've tried powering the watch down during the run and back up but the same thing happens - watch shows music is playing but nothing comes through the headphones. Seems my watch has that issue.

, should I create a separate thread for my vo2 max no longer updating since the last firmware 11.12 upgrade or should I leverage this one. I'm curious to see if anyone is experiencing issues with this as well.

  • I did this and HRM disconnected already on the first run.

  • Peter, please answer the 3 questions from my previous post so that I may continue to assist you via email.

  • Hey , I enrolled in the FR 955 12.20 beta program and this has been fixed. So happy to be able to have my HRM, stryd pod and headphones all paired and working during my activities.
