Notifications received but do not show on watch face

Normally when I receive a text message (iphone) it pops up on the watch face.  Today it stopped working even though the message was received by the watch.  I can find it in the messages widget manually. It just will not pop up!

Do not disturb is off.

Phone calls still alert on the watch
Garmin connect 'find my watch' is working.

I have now pent four hours trying to get it working again. Restarted everything. Upgraded software. Bluetooth on and off. Removed watch from Connect App and reconnect. Checked every notification setting on App, phone and watch.

Can anyone save me?

cheers.

  • Ran this test...
I disconnected the 245 from the phone and paired up  an old 920 XT. Notifications worked correctly.
I paired up my 945 to an old iphone. Notifications did not work.
I paired up the old 920XT with the old iphone and notifications worked correctly
I repaired the 245 with the current phone and still not working.

So my ability to clear and re-pair a watch is not the problem. Two iphones work with the 920 XT but neither work with the 245.

This suggests the 245 has a bad setting somewhere. I guess I have to do a factory reset and go through the pain of setting up the watch again.

  • So after another four hours I discovered if you set your time manually more than a few hours different from local time the messages stop popping up. If you switch back to auto time the pop up again.

I had set my time manually for another country.

Of course I have reset all my data and now have to rebuild my watch manually all because of this bug? Nonsense behaviour.

    Cheers.

  • I did back it up but did not really get too much useful data back. And then I did not trust what i copied so started fresh again.

Still it is a weird bug that setting the time manually stops messages displaying.
