Why does my FR 945 suddenly stop tracking while running?

Hi, guys

I'm so curious about if the issue I sometimes faced to is being occured to other FR 945 owners.

I'm still really satisfied with my Forerunner 945 since I had it 3 years ago. However, I noticed it suddenly stops tracking running and back to the original FR 945 default watch face(the image attached below). I'm using the running data field named "F3b Dozen Run" from IQ store and I really like this one to track my running habbits.

I don't doubt if the issue has been happening occasionally becaue of the running data.  When my watch stops tracking and back to the original FR 945 watch face, after I start run for 5~6 min. As I said before it actually happens not quite often, but I'm still being interrupted whenever it happens and I find out checking my pace. In addition, I press Start/Stop botton as soon as I saw and realized that my watch stopped tracking and it continued to re-track all the informaion, such as GPS, Pace, Heartneat and others supplied by the data I used for running. Have any body had the exact issue ever before ?

How can I make the issue stop being happening?

  • All,

If you are experiencing this, please respond to the following:

    1. May we have permission to reach you via email?

    2. May we have permission to view your Connect account?

    3. In which country are you located?

  • I have a similar issue that has been occurring for months, even after doing a factory reset. I do have 2 downloads from the IQ store on the watch that I reinstalled after the reset. One is a watch face, the other is a data field. Do you suggest I do another factory reset, but not reinstall these?  My glitch has occurred not only using the uploaded data field, but also when using the default field employed during the suggested run activity.

  • I have an open case (at least I hope it’s still open), but for compliance, 1. Yes you can contact me by email, 2.  Yes, you can view my Connect account, and 3. I’m in the USA.

  • The additional apps/widgets on my watch are NoFrills by HermoT (watch face), Single Field by lcj2, and Strava Relative Effort by Strava.

I did not re-upload music to my watch after the factory reset.

  • Your case has not been closed, it's still being investigated. Thank you for your answers, regardless!

  • I deleted the 3 apps from my watch, and did a soft reset. Wish me luck on the next run.

  • No luck. After deleting the 3 apps and doing a reset, the glitch still occurred. I registered as “idle” for about 4 minutes 25 seconds beginning around 5:15. So the apps aren’t the culprit. I did have the RDP connected, however, since I didn’t want to address too many variables at once. Next is to try without the RDP.

  • So it's been 8 runs or so now without the Running Dynamics Pod connected, and each of those runs tracked my activity without any noticeable issues.  Though I seem to recall having the glitch once in the past without the RDP, 8 recent, error-free runs in a row without the RDP sure seems like a pattern.  If I'd have to guess, the RDP is the culprit.  Can engineering look into this so I can once again use my RDP with my 945?

  • Do you use a Running Dynamics Pod when you run, or some other peripheral?

  • normally I’m running with Running Dynamics Pod
