Training Status - Not working & VO2 Max last updated over a month ago

Reaching out in the community forums because Garmin support is rubbish!

Has anyone else have/had this issue? My tranining status is "no status" annd running Vo2 Max hasn't updated since July.

I have at least 40 activities that meet the following:

  • Running activity must be 10 minutes or longer in length.
  • Activity must be recorded outdoors with a GPS signal.

  • Heart rate data from either a built-in optical heart rate sensor or from a chest strap
  • Heart rate must be elevated to at least 70% of your maximum heart rate for at least 10 minutes continuously.

945 software is 10.40

  • Even if you haven't changed anything an update can make changes.

  • Backup files sent to Garmin so I suspect they'll try to replicate.

Another suggestion from support was to delete old activities from my watch. Went for a run after and it didn't help.

When I'm running the watch does display fitness (green +6 today) so I assume it's trying to calculate it as I'm running. Just at the end it doesn't record it.

  • Did you get any feedback? Still having the issue despite trying everything I think I can do and staying in line several times for over an hour but can’t get anyone at the hotline to speak to me..

  • Despite sending all my recent activities they've only looked at one I sent a week ago...

Apparently the heart rate on it is varying too much and means no VO2 max is being recorded. It's changing by up to 5 bpm over a few seconds. They asked me to say the HR monitor used (HRM Tri) and suggested that I see if it's broken. Not so helpful. I've asked more questions but they're yet to reply.

How does the HR look on your activities?

I have mixed feelings about their support - I feel like I'm getting drop fed atm - but that's probably because they don't know what's happening. I felt I spent too long with 1st long support answering basic questions.

  • They asked me to say the HR monitor used (HRM Tri) and suggested that I see if it's broken.

Is it? Have you checked the battery?

  • I use mostly my HRM tri, which works also fine with my edge 1000. in minor cases I use a tickrx or wristbased HR reading. All of these combinations worked perfectly until July 19th, the last VO2max etc were calculated. Attached an example of my HR readings with the HRM tri 10k, Appx. 50 min.(the drops are traffic lights).

calculation of VO2max on the bike using the tickr x and hrm tri continues without issue on my edge 1000. therefore it is definitely my watch which has the issue.

  • Useful info Thumbsup I swapped battery in my HRM this morning and went for a run, still no vo2 value.

  • Battery seemed OK. I swapped it this morning but still not working.

  • Facing the same problem, since couple of months. Factory resetting the watch every week, for 3-4 runs the vo2 max gets updated and then it stops again. I am fed up of FR945

  • So did someone else has any experience with the support regarding taking care of the issue? Still trying to get someone on the line....

Seems not right if something like V02Max, which is marketed so big, is not working and Garmin does not care
