Are structured SWIM workouts from TrainingPeaks EVER going to be able to be synced/exported to Garmin Connect?

I have a 945 and have been emailing Garmin and Trainingpeaks customer service about this for literally years. It took a long time for me to make them understand what I wanted. I want structured swim workouts from TrainingPeaks to download/sync/export whatever you want to call it. I want the structured swim workout that was created in TrainingPeaks to show up on my 945 just like the structured run and bike workouts do. And no, I don't want to create the workout myself, that's why I paid TrainingPeaks to do it for me. They spent a long time blaming each other for the lack of functionality, and then I started forwarding Garmin's responses to TraningPeaks and vice-versa. They both ended up giving me some vanilla response like "we know it's important, we're working on it" which basically means "stop bothering me". I can't be the only athlete that is pissed off that I have $600 on my wrist and I still have to write my swim workout on my arm with a ballpoint pen. I have "suggested" it to Garmin on the "Have an Idea?" page about 10 times. I would really like to know if anyone is actually working on this issue.

  • I spoke to TrainingPeaks and I think Garmin haven't opened the API for Swim workouts, and this make sense since the Run and Cycle workouts sync just fine.

  • Any progress on this?  Like everyone else on here I am very frustrated about having just spent a ton of money on a Garmin 945 and a triathlon workout plan via TP to only just now realize that 1/3 of my workouts aren't actually imported into my watch.  What's outlook for implementation Garmin?

  • Maybe someone send a few Treets to trading peaks ceo and the company things would start moving. Make it public. I would but don't do Twitter or Facebook. Wen I was on Twitter had issues with a major shipping company and made one Treet and got a response and a solution real quick.

  • No Idea, what's the Roadmap for TP, but I frequently use Tredict to build structured (swim) workouts which works perfectly fine.

I build the workouts in Tredict which auto syncs to GC and GC syncs to the watch.

  • The Garmin Training API does support sending pool swim workouts to Garmin Connect. The requirements of a pool swim workout are different from bike and run workouts, and not all third-party workout builders support the necessary features required by the Training API for pool swim workouts.

  • The Garmin swim workouts doesn't have anyway to add pace or HR zones to the workout segments.  When will this be implemented so that TP can sync to GC?  From everything that I have read online, the limitations are on Garmin's side,  not the 3rd parties trying to sync.   Thanks

  • Would there be any point to adding pace or heart rate targets to swim workouts? You can't look at your watch while actually swimming, and it can only update pace once per length anyway. I just add step notes if I want to target a particular exertion level and then those will show up on the watch before you start each step.

  • Fair point,  but it could pretty easily use the vibrations like when running to confirm if within the range.  Long segments would have plenty opportunity to calculate the pace and provide feedback.  Even if I am only checking it at the end of a segment I would like to know what my pace zone was... i don't have those memorized.  But with that feedback I would learn over time what each pace zone feels like.  I've only just started with swimming with my 945 and using structured workouts so trying to sort out how this is best done.
