Installation Instructions

  1. Connect your Forerunner 945 to your computer using the USB cable.
  2. Download and unzip Forerunner945_685Beta.zip. Place the GUPDATE.GCD file in the \GARMIN folder of your device's internal storage drive.
  3. Copy GUP3114.GCD from the RemoteSW folder to \Garmin\RemoteSW on the device.
  4. Disconnect your device from the computer, approve the update on the watch, and wait for the update to finish.
  5. If you would like to revert to the last public release software, place the GUPDATE-620.GCD file in the \GARMIN folder. Rename GUPDATE-620.GCD to GUPDATE.GCD before disconnecting your device. Copy GUP3114-702.GCD from RemoteSW\Downgrades to \Garmin\RemoteSW on the device and rename to GUP3114.GCD. NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults.
  • Asegúrate de que el archivo Remote SW que estás instalando sea el correcto, puesto que existen dos archivos con ese mismo nombre

  • Good to know that it works in Germany! Hope I won't need to have a unit replaced, but if so.. I'll try to ask about this option next time.

  • Good day everyone!
I began to notice that after doing a bike with gps, the Vo2max of the usual for running is changing. For a bike I use a Garmin run chest heart rate monitor, there is no power meter. Vo2max growth occurred after cycling in the second heart rate zone to improve the statistics of low aerobic load. It's nice, of course, that Vo2max is growing, but I haven't noticed such a dependence before. Firmware 6.85

  • This update drained my battery in less than 5 days.  I charged and updated my device just after midnight (12am EDT) on 5/7. It did not make it through 5/11 before it completely died.  I have done zero workouts and have not used GPS (actually barely moved, recovering from a car accident). Maybe 116 total hours from unplug to when I noticed it was completely dead. Granted I have never gotten close to the two weeks advertised (I think my record was almost 9 days once) but I at least used to get a full week.

Sleep tracking is definitely improved but still thinks I am asleep hours after I wake up, and fails to record wake ups when I am disturbed by phone calls and actively using the device.

Sadly haven't been able to try too many of the features since the update. WHR is still very off and alerts randomly that I am over 110bpm when I am between 70-90bpm according to multiple other devices.

  • Ok I might have a new issue.

The watch put me in training state recovery, when I was doing a fast 5k mostly within zone 4. In a 10k max tempo.
    Anyone seen this?
I also raised my vo2max during this run, not really recovery run?

I thought only easy slow runs categorized like that?

    Some background:
Have had the FR945 for almost 6m been running a lot, have the max HR set well and so on. Using HR pro.
I did updated to last beta a week or so ago, but I have been running several times since that, and haven’t noticed anything else like that.

Thoughts? Can that happen usually,?or should I report the bug?

  • i've installed the beta now for one week. sleep widget is very nice. but i had some kind of "widget reset" 3 times in this week. this means my selection of installed widget is suddenly  gone and the default ones (i think) are showing up. i've installed my selection again, works for some days and then again, reset. to default.

when i try to install the battery widget from dsapptech, it says installing, it doesn't get installed and the other widgest are also reset to default ones. never had this behavior before this beta.

  • Since this update, windows file explorer see my watch but I can't see the watch in garmin express.

My Vivosmart 4 is still seen without problem in garmin express (7.5).

Any idea (I wanted to update the maps) ?

    Thanks.

EDIT : today windows updated and I can see my watch again in garmin express !!!

    Sorry for the noise.

  • it happened to me as well, I lost my widgets and the order. It's like the watch reset itself widget-wise... It happened 2-3 times.

  • Most times, my widget roll or datafields are f. off from Garmin Express on the Desktop. I don’t know why, but it will not read what Garmin Connect Mobile did with the device. I think, it stores the data wich sohould be on the watch offline and doesn’t ask Garmin Connect for it.

it’s not only a problem with the 945, that’s happening since F3 times. My workaround: allow Express only to sync and update maps, but not ConnectIQ Content, Apps, Widgets, Watchfaces, Datafiels from Garmin or Connect IQ.
