Installation Instructions

  1. Connect your Forerunner 945 to your computer using the USB cable.
  2. Download and unzip Forerunner945_685Beta.zip. Place the GUPDATE.GCD file in the \GARMIN folder of your device's internal storage drive.
  3. Copy GUP3114.GCD from the RemoteSW folder to \Garmin\RemoteSW on the device.
  4. Disconnect your device from the computer, approve the update on the watch, and wait for the update to finish.
  5. If you would like to revert to the last public release software, place the GUPDATE-620.GCD file in the \GARMIN folder. Rename GUPDATE-620.GCD to GUPDATE.GCD before disconnecting your device. Copy GUP3114-702.GCD from RemoteSW\Downgrades to \Garmin\RemoteSW on the device and rename to GUP3114.GCD. NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults.
  • No I updated yesterday afternoon and it worked well until Today. I went for a run using the HRM Pro and after that the LED's never turned on again. I tried what the Garmin Support asked me (removed some folders, re-synced and restarted). Haven't tried that. Might give it a go before sending it out....

I don't think is FW related though...

  • I don't think is FW related though..

You may have found a bug in the beta where it's not switching back to WHR following a workout with an external strap, that's why I asked if you tried reverting back.  I also downloaded the beta yesterday, but I got my covid vaccine too and I feel like 10lbs of sh*t stuffed in a 5lb bag and don't think I'll be testing any activities today.

  • I've just reverted it back to 6.20 and no luck. All the FW Ver below are "0":

    BMX: 0.0.0(!)

    WHR: 0.00.00

    Sensor Hub: 0.00

    :-(

  • It's good news for beta users as your issue looks unrelated, but not good news for you.  Is Garmin overnighting a replacement?  They did this for me years ago when I had a problem.  They send a new one out charged on a credit card, but reimburse you when they receive the old watch.

  • Ya, incredible how much I rely on it... running 4/5 times a week + cycling... not sure what I'm going to do now...

I have to send it to them first then they will ship a new one for me! It's going to take ages...

Glad that it won't affect others.

  • Have you requested an overnight replacement?  They didn't offer me one when I had to replace my watch, so I asked and they had no problem doing so.  It could be a location or availability issue with you, but it doesn't hurt to ask if you haven't done so.

  • Ouch, I would’ve been gutted.
I hope it solves it for you quickly.
I too rely on the damn watch to much, but it’s my companion for training every day.

that’s why I didn’t dare using the beta.

  • Improved feedback on stress level readings. What would that be? Are we going to receive messages?

  • installed successfully in the morning (8 gtc), till now everything seems to be ok (performed activity with hr strap, whr after that working without problems, battery also ok...). Thanks Garmin for new features!

Whow you guys are lucky with that option, here in France they refuse to do that.

My Fenix 6x is in repair for two months now, many have waited six months to get a replacement,

Luckily I can use my 945 while waiting
