Where is the advanced sleep tracking for the 945?

Hello all,

I noticed that the Fenix 6 a while back received a new sleep tracking algo or similar roughly 9 months ago I think? This gave better widgets and I believe a sleep score alongside more accurate tracking. Currently the only thing I don't like about my Garmin is the sleep tracking as it picks up a lack of deep sleep and a lack of me waking up i.e I wake up at 8am and lie in bed for an hour (maybe with eyes shut for some of it) but my wake up time is like 9:08.

Fitbit seem to do this really well and It would be great if this new algo helps this. When can we expect to see it for the 945?

Thanks

Josh

  • So you don't trust Garmin at all on this, even if they acknowledged a couple of weeks ago that it will come?

It is in the works and it will be coming. Just to clarify what is coming, is the sleep insights and the sleep score.
  • I have only stated one fact and I rely on that

  • Just a parenthesis OT, sorry for this, when they replaced FR645 because the strap support was damaged I was told that I would no longer have problems, after a year the second watch broke as well as many others owners of 645, I am St. Thomas: I believe only in what I see, with this I do not want to accuse anyone of course.

  • Well you can't get more OT than that, I suppose

  • Due to the delay of a new beta version, I hope this feature will come. A delay of 5 months is no longer acceptable. The promise would be no later than the end of last year.

  • SW Descent update just arrived: Support for sleep calculation on the device (requires and updated sensor hub), or the Forerunners have a different HW from all the others

While it's sad that we are still waiting for this feature to come to FR945, there could of course be a simpler answer to why it's taking time - namely that the software of FR945 is different from Fenix 6 or Descent. Which is likely, although of course I have no idea how Garmin have structured their software - but it would surprise me if there are not differences between the software between the watches. Some bigger, some smaller. It does not necessarily need to be the hardware that are stopping them.

Of course, we are all just speculating - the only one that holds the answers are Garmin. Either we believe them, or we don't.

  • I find it difficult for the software to be different, I only have doubts about the HUB sensor. Are they different, that can only be it. The same has already said in several posts on the subject that it is unacceptable that other brands that use the same firsbeart algorithm do and Garmin does not.

  • The promise would be
    it is unacceptable

You choose your words loosely.  There never was a promise and not having the feature would be disappointing at most, but not unacceptable.

  • If you get woken up buy some Boots wax earplugs they're amazing changed my life
