I am a helicopter pilot and fly at different altitudes.
Since 10 days my FR945 seems to miss my landings. The altitude goes up (roughly correct) but not down again.
Anyone experiencing the same?

Hi, there were likely some related changes in 6.20. In my case after update watch barometer auto mode doesn't work like before. While driving to slightly elevated place (say 250->700m) watch doesn't recognize…
Something is going on. I don't know if you use meters or feet for elevation, but there shouldn't be an instantaneous change from -541 to 93 on your elevation graph either way and the same with the barometer…
Hello,
Considering your fairly extreme use case (few people have these sorts of variations on a daily basis), it's probably better to set your barometer to Altimeter only mode.
See Watch Mode in the documentation.
By default it's set to Auto and it tries to be clever and considers that in the absence of movement, atmospheric pressure variations are due to environmental pressure changes and when there is movement, then you must be changing altitude.
Setting the watch mode to altimeter means it will just behave like an altimeter and will stop trying to compensate for changes due to the weather.
I had the same thing happen a couple days ago. was up in the mountains for a few days and according to my 945 I never can back down again (which would have been fine if true!). I had to recalibrate my altimeter and that seems to have brought me back down to earth. www8.garmin.com/.../GUID-BC734846-01A7-4F33-86D4-DFBDBC06CDB4.html
Does it only fail on drastic altitude differences with flying, or is it also failing with GPS activities like running/walking?
My altimiter failed after about a year and Garmin had to replace the watch - my runs/walks claimed I gained 20K feet and sitting at my desk I was at -30K feet. The replacement they sent me works great.
While Running it works well. I switched to GPS Altimetry. Next flight will be on monday...
Hi, there were likely some related changes in 6.20. In my case after update watch barometer auto mode doesn't work like before. While driving to slightly elevated place (say 250->700m) watch doesn't recognize the changes happening under way. When checking altimeter at the 700m place altimeter reports 250m and watch fires storm alert (or fires that after some certain time on its own). During activities altimeter is fine.
Hello, the same thing is happening to me too: it is as if the altimeter "falls asleep" when there are large changes in altitude (eg driving the car in the mountains). And then the storm alarm appears to me too, but the altitude is also wrong by 150 m. So far no problem when recording activities in the plains. The problem appeared from firmware 6.20: will it be a software problem?
