When are Garmin going to fix this ridiculous Jaybird Bug

Hi everyone,

putting this out there as normally when I encounter a bug I just give it a bit of time and its usually fixed in the next release but this issue where Garmin seems to have cocked up the BT connection to Jaybird headphones has been going for months now. They seem to have messed it up around Sensor Hub 5.3 and its not wired properly since and from what I can see people are having the same or similar issues.

Some of the things I've tried are deleting the headphones from the watch, factory resetting the headphones, deleting Spotify and reinstalling. Occasionally doing all this seems to fix the issue for a few runs but then it suddenly just starts again and it becoming really annoying!

For the record, I have the following issue:

Garmin 945, Jaybird Vista and Spotify

Run with one headphone when running

Music plays fine if just stream music, but as soon as I start an activity it times out at almost exactly 5 minutes (though this time has changed sometimes!). Turning off the headphones and turning back on seems to fix for another five minutes but if for example I try to reconnect from the watch instead of turning headphones off, the headphones say 'connected' but nothing plays so you press play on the headphone and you just get white noise which I gather is jus the bluetooth playing when there is no actual signal?

Anyone found any better solutions though I cant think anything can fix it besides Garmin pulling their finger out:(

  • I have a similar issue w/ the Forerunner 245 and Jaybird Vista.  Connection is unstable at best.  Connects and disconnects at will.  Reset, reload, unpair, repair BT.   Blah.  Frustrating.  Would definitely consider a competitor's product at this time as the BT capability was my primary decision to go w/ Garmin.

AND...support just basically hung up on my chat w/o answering my questions.  F.

They've basically switched me from an huge fan of the watch and software to a pissed off owner.

  • I can 'massage' my Garmin 945 to some stability vs the Vista (making sure phone BT off and watch vs phone connection off) but i'm getting bored of that process. Wonder how many people this affects...aren't there legal processes for this sort of thing?

  • aren't there legal processes for this sort of thing?

Legal processes against who?  Garmin or Jaybird?  My Bose have been working flawlessly for years with Garmin watches. Legal processes.  Lol

  • Lovely stuff. I bow to your superior user experience (with Bose...) and evident knowledge of consumer legal process, and will get back in my box; you've answered the question elegantly, thanks.

  • It isn't that... the point is that the only common headphone that has an issue (i believe across multiple watches even) is Jaybird headphones (vista in particular(?)).  So if it works well with my numerous generic headphones <30$ soundpeats q12 plus, soundpeats truefree, aukey true, soundpeats q12 HD , my multiple generic bluetooth speakers... clearly  they are adhering to the Bluetooth standard for audio transmission!   As well as the multiple posts of people with many models that works great.

If just one headphone manufacturer, on especially one model has an issue... who has the issue do you think?

  • Hi, this issue is still happening. Today 2021-11-14 - I'm doing another backroll to my Fenix 6 pro solar. I lost the count. The software version is19.20.

  • Has anyone found a fix to this? I've been added to an "Open Investigation" by Garmin Support, but they can't give me any more details...Has been a few months now, it seems...!

  • The only “fix” I’ve found is to purchase a new pair of headphones, different brand. They work great with no pairing or drop issues, but what a garbage solution.

  • Yeah, I bought Jabra Elite Active 75t:s. They work great. No drop outs what so ever.
