[Resolved] Latest Forerunner 945 firmware upgraded to v5.0, lost Combo Running Power to display Power, Lap Power, L Lap Power, Avg Power data fields

My Forerunner 945 just updated to the latest firmware v5.0 and I noticed my run yesterday and today did not provide my running wattage.

When I checked my custom data field under Run Settings, it appears Garmin Combo Running Power does not display the 4 split screen of: Power, Lap Power, L Lap Power, Avg Power.

When I tried to re-add Run Settings > Data Screens > Add New > Custom Data > Choose Layout > ConnectIQ Fields (Combo Running Power), it only gives me a single data field called Timer.

Anyone else experiencing this issue?

Much appreciated!

  • Upgrade Power App from mobile device - it helps

  • I've tried the uninstall / reinstall and the problem persisted

  • same problem! Pay lots of money for my Garmin Tri HRM and this power made it feel like it was worth it. Without it, feels like I should have just got a basic non-garmin HRM. Please help!!!

This is a nasty bug that terrified me at first but it has a workaround!! Unfortunately I don't remember it exactly, search on this board for a thread started right after 5.00 was released. if you don't find it, let me know and I will dig it out

  • Hey Former Member, I can't find that discussion. I spent about 2 hours looking for it. Sad days. Hope that the update comes out soon!

No probs, I found it, here you go, buddy! It worked for me, saved me from having to downgrade to 4.40.

Add the stryd field, or whatever first CIQ field (will display correctly)
Add the second field (will appear as a timer)
Now go to the first (stryd) correctly displayed Connect-IQ field and change the content to the other (second). Then go to the timer field and change the content to the stryd.
    Everything should be displayed correctly.

  • Hi RadmiR,

Appreciated the article.  I also use the Stryd power meter as a foot pod along with the Garmin dynamics pod on my waistband.

    My current setup as follows:

Run Settings > Run Settings > Data Screens > Add New > Custom Data > Choose Layout > ConnectIQ Fields

CIQ Data Field #1 = Stryd Zones (no issue with this)

CIQ Data Field #2 = Used to have a 4 split-screen display metrics from the Garmin Running Power Combo that shows:

    1. Power
    2. Lap Power
    3. L Lap Power
    4. Avg Power data fields

My current issue at the moment is not with Stryd Zones, but rather the Garmin Running Power Combo data field only shows up as Timer, any advice on how to also enable this data field back to the 4 split-screen display?

  • [Update] Ok - FINALLY got it to work!  I followed the instruction @RadmiR posted above

    1. Add 1 CIQ data field Stryd Zone, Garmin Power, etc

    2. Add 2 CIQ data field, it may appear as Timer when you first add it.  However, after you go back and EDIT the 2nd CIQ data field and choose  Data Fields, just click until you find the CIQ data field you choose to re-apply!!
