Did you happen to update to the latest topo maps?
I noticed way bigger battery usage with those (and lag, unresponsiveness). At first when actually using them (trying to plan a route, took too long, cancelled…
I tried to retain with the maps. Did a new install of the maps, charged it full, soft reboot. But the battery only lasts ONE day. This is insane. Is this the only way, moving the maps?? And, please where…
Here's my experience in the last two days. Nothing changed in my usage, no new CIQ apps, no new maps installed. I have been on 4.40 since it came out:
Maps are in GARMIN folder. Create folder there, for example "disabledmaps". Move all the *.img and *.gma files or just the biggest ones there.. Then the watch doesn't find the maps, but you can move them back if you want to use them.
And if you have Mac and don't have any idea how to do that, use https://www.android.com/filetransfer/
If you don't need the space for anything that's much much faster to "disable" and "enable", and they will be with you on the watch if you need to enable them without having your map files available but have friends computer or something.
Ok so just a minor update. After rebooting the watch and not doing an activity. Everything seems ok for now. Battery is working as expected. So I upgraded the firmware. Shut down the watch, went out for groceries and started the watch again. No more suddend drains.. Thanks

It's currently charging, but this is not looking good. I only recently factory reset it because it decided to not sync with my phone, without any reason or cause. I'm sorry to say, but I feel like I am in a giant beta test ever since I bought the watch, and I bought it on the first day it became available, 30th of April of 2019. This is my second 945 (buttons issue) and it has not been a smooth ride at all. I love it when it works well, but the constant issues and slow updates make it feel very unreliable. Absolutely unacceptable, especially considering its price
I have done multiple soft reboots (holding down power button for 15sec) and then have charged it to 100%. I continued to get extremely fast battery drain. I then connected my watch to Garmin Connect on my Mac and re-installed the topo maps following the information ink this thread. So far the battery drain seems to be back to normal but I noticed another issue which is that my watch doesn’t seem to be able to keep the correct time. I have to connect it to my iPhone and Garmin Connect In order for it to re-sync the correct time again.
I’ll keep monitoring but does seem that there’s a few issues that have been introduced of late.

Switching off the major maps seemed to work the last weeks. Until today...suddenly a battery drain again. What might be a problem is i disconnected Bluetooth on my phone because i received many messages in a short time. Later that day...boom watch empty. So it might have to do with Bluetooth drivers in the watch that's draining the battery.
