No news on 4.41 successor?

Beta 4.41 has been out for a while now but so far no indication of a new, stable/final firmware... I understand there is the Covid-19 issue so just wondering if all development is halted or should we expect a new firmware (final or beta) anytime soon...

Thanks in advance,

  • Maybe I'm too old but I usually buy products because of the features they HAVE and not because of features that may come on the future. I'm happy with my 945.

Unfortunately, this project is dead, a long time without updates for a watch that is only one year old
The way it looks this product/project is on the cold fridge while a new one is being prepared.

"This project is dead"?  "The way it looks..."?  What are the two of you basing your statements on?

  • Almost 4 months without stable updates seems like little? In my profession, 4 months without updates with new features or at least fixing the errors (some of us no longer complain but we still see errors) means that the watch is dead, you just have to look at the Fenix series, and it is not worth it the excuse that they are more premium than the Forerunner series, 600€ is as premium as 700€, it does not take much intelligence to realize the abandonment of the Forerunner 945 by Garmin. Greetings and thanks for your answer :)

I understand.  So, based on your words, if or when Garmin releases a FW update for either fixes or new features, this will show us your level of intelligence?

Greetings and thanks for your answer

By the way, I posted a question and not an answer.

  • Sorry, my English is not good, I am using Google Translate. You have responded to a comment of mine, so I think it is an answer;). Understand that if they release corrections on a device with just one year it means that they do not treat us as fools and that we are at the same level as the rest of the premium watches. Greetings and thanks for your reply;)

Garmin just acquired FirstBeat.  The Fenix series already had all the FirstBeat metrics.  This didn't happen overnight and it might be (I'm speculating of course)  why there hasn't been an update for the past 3+ months.  You really don't think any of those features will come to the 945 and Garmin has just abandoned a 15 month old top of the line Forerunner?  The 3 1/2 year old 935 just got an update 10 days ago.

  • From Fenix 6 forum

    10.00 Change Log Notes:
Fixed an intermittent issue with map load times and map responsiveness.

We can dream about it for our forerunner.... Disappointed

  • I would be happy of the GPS and battery were more reliable but they are not. Also, nowadays it is expected a few additional items to be added over the product lifetime and we've got a few but the GPS and battery for me were always the main issue with 945...

  • Base on gut feeling only as most of all the posts on this forum with a subjective topic. The fact that the GPS and battery issues were never 100% sorted and the lack of a final stable firmware release makes me feel this way. Open to discuss of course otherwise I was not going to be sharing my opinion here.

  • Well, for years Garmin's products had lots of FirstBeat metrics inside so I don't see your point... what I expect is that even more Garmin products will get FirstBeat metrics in the future (specially the cheaper ones) and that FirstBeat will start to be focusing on what Garmin wants and slowly stopped supplying metrics for other companies...
