More work on sleep tracking?

Does anyone know if Garmin is working on improving its current sleep tracking metrics/algorithms? I've followed some of the related threads about this over the last year.

Everyone says that Fitbit is the leader in this, I can't imagine their hardware is better, so it must be software, and fixable.

It would be great if Garmin would tweak this, and then push it out as an update to their watches. Just curious if that's even in the works.

  • Considering that Garmin is giving themselves taps on the back on their amazing results (70% accuracy!) I doubt they will improve the situation.

IMHO, if you're in the 70% of the population that have normal sleep patterns, then it works fine for you. I mean the biggest red herring is that it needs you imput your bed time manually for it to work! There is nothing clever about what Garmin does regarding sleep tracking.

  • I think I have regular sleep patterns but it still thinks I sleep maaany hours more than I do. If I wake up, go to toilet and then start remove working, it doesn't seem to figure out that I did wake up :)

And no, I don't think that it needs your bed time and regular wake up time, as I don't seem it to use them to anything :)
