Good earbuds for FR945

Hello everyone

I am looking for some good buddies for my FR945 and I am OVERWHELMED!!!!

What I think the main charactericts should be:

- true wireless (no cables at all)

- Very solid water resistance rating (> IPX7)

- Should also work with my android phone and very good mic quality (ie the other part of the call should hear me very well)

- preferably no touch buttons (do buttons always work when paired to fr945?)

- the part out of the ear should not be too big

- price could also go high (but let s shoot for below 200/250 USD no more pls!!) but only if it s really worth it

Fyi, after I would say a combined 10/15 hours of research I am thinking of JayBird Vista. But am very happy to hear your opinions.

Thanks a lot!!

  • I am using JBL Endurance Run Bt with no problem at all.Wink

  • Have not tried myself, but I'm interested in the Jabra elite active 75t

Today I use the Plantronics backbeat fit 2100 and they work great, but can not wear them under a hat or helmet. Not so great for office use, the microphone is weak.

  • I'm on my second pair of Jabra Elite Sport - these are rated IPX higher than the 75T

    They are fantastic.

  • Are they 75T Active model? I brought a pair of these a couple of months back and they cut in and out during outdoor runs on my 945. I since returned them. Do you have these problems currently with them? I wonder if a recent firmware may have fixed it if it’s working well for you.

  • I use a Jaybird Tarah Pro, which I know is not a true wireless model but has similar eargels design and I can hear my own pulse (HR) during heavy training. I just leave this info here maybe it is a relevant characteristic as well.

  • I like the Aftershokz Aeropex myself.  They're bone conduction so I can use them on the bike and hear traffic coming.

  • Elite Active 75t is the latest model from Jabra, released February 2020.

  • I bought the Powerbeats Pro first, had constant bluetooth conection issues while riding, and crazy amounts of wind noise so I returned them. Not great with sunnies either. Replaced with Jaybird Vista and really happy. Connection so far is solid, great sound, minimal wind noise while riding (but more than Jaybird X4 I had previously), and really secure when running. IPX7 rated so should be pretty bulletproof. Also charging case is nice and compact although not water proof so careful putting in back of cycling jersey.

Only complaint is the buttons - not very well designed - when you push them you push the bud into your ears which is not comfortable, and limited functionality as there is only one button on each bud. Also hard to press when running hard.

  • I don't have true wireless buds yet, but am itching to try the Jabra Elite Active 75t.

Like another person who responded, I use the Jaybird Tarah Pro while running, with some Comply Foam tips. They work great, the buttons are much nicer to use than most true wireless buttons likely are since they are tactile and on the cord so you are not pressing at your ear. Using the shirt clip, the cord doesn't bounce around. They have connected great to my 945.

i recently picked up the Aftershokz Aeropex on a good deal to try out for cycling. I like them, don't love them. They are comfortable, good base for bone conduction. They still have a bit of a hollow/distant sound overall compared to earbuds. However, they are better listening experience than using a speaker on your bike. The sound is closer to you and it is obviously way more private and won't annoy others :).  Earbuds will always sound better, but these keep your ears open to hear sounds around you and I decided to compare them to using a speaker rather than vs using earbuds. Before these, I was using a Bose Micro strapped to my handlebar which sounded good, but got started to get drowned out when going 15 miles an hour.  Generally, I don't use music often when riding, usually solo rides on paved trails.

I have only used the Aeropex with my phone, not connected to the 945.

  • Anyone tried to pair with Galaxy Buds? I think of buying them for daily usage and occasionally with 945 - especially with strength excercises and stretching. I do not like running and cycling with earphones on.
