maps loading really slowly

My map used to load fairly quickly after a run when I was reviewing the stats etc, now it takes forever, and yesterday I waited over a minute and nothing ever showed up (though I was able to pull up the elevation map). The screen will come up, with the zoom/pan controls, but it will be blank. Trying it right now, and after 1.5 minutes still no route showing... though the map eventually showed up after a minute :-/

Anyone else have this problem. This is recent, since the 4.40 update (possibly one update before).

FWIW, I uploaded German maps last fall (following instructions by DC Rainmaker) before the Berlin marathon (I live in Chicago), none of that affected the speed in which maps came up. Now I'm wondering if I should uninstall the extra maps, as I wonder if that would speed up the process?

Anyone experience similar or have suggestions?

I've done all the updates, and also a reset (not factory reset)

After some map update my map loading took minutes.. Reinstalling maps will fix it, if not by first time, then try again.

Same here. My "loading maps" screen when watch was powered off takes forever (couple of minute) and in activity it takes a while (shorter) to see the map. Maybe ill try to reinstall the maps.

Thanks .. I will give this a try, I see there is an option to 'Reinstall Map', I will do this for all of them.

The problem is that it isn't always consistent, sometimes I shows up almost immediately, other times, usually when it's a bit longer of a run, it takes forever, or doesn't come up at all.

(re-installing now)

Same issue, here. I think this is happening since I updated maps with Garmin express.

Hi, I had to try three times, but it seems to have fixed it, I'll know more after a longer run - thanks!

Levon did you install all maps three times? Only a specific one? I have the same issue. I've also noticed that the map view during runs sometimes takes 20-30 seconds to show something when switching from another data screen.

@talsela I installed all of them (4?) three times, 3 of the 4 install almost instantaneously, one takes a bit longer. So far it seems to have made a difference, I'll know more by the end of this coming week.

Thanks Levon, I'm on my third install of the four, so far no luck, After re-installing the maps, the device takes about 30 minutes to load maps, and once it's up and running, I cannot get any past activity maps to load.

Wow .. that's crazy long .. sorry to hear that .. maybe time to contact Garmin directly.
