Spotify

Today Spotify decided to install itself into my watch. I didn't have time to screw around with my watch, so I ran music-less this evening. Now that I'm home recovering from my run I was able to uninstall it, then to set My Music as the music provider. (At least I didn't have to reinstall the music.)

Is my watch haunted, or has this happened to anyone else?

  • It happened the same to me Yesterday evening...

  • Hi,

for me also, I don't know why. I uninstalled a long time ago all music providers from my device.

  • This happened today also to my 945 when syncing with my phone. I don't know which crazy alliance manager at Garmin earned an additional kick back from Spotify today, but I am very annoyed by this unwanted push of bloatware...

Enough for me to raise a complaint.

I explicitly choose to get rid of all these additionals when installing my watch at first..... So why they think they have the liberty to push this to the watch?!

-1 for Garmin, a first for me....

It's Garmin's watch and they can put whatever they want on it.  I'm sure the watch has some hidden file on it that shows the watch comes with the Spotify app even though you deleted it and that's why the update pushed it again.  Take the 2-3 seconds to remove it like you did when you first got the watch.  Stop carrying on about imaginary kickbacks, the need to file a complaint, bloatware and your perceived violated rights and relax.  Life's too short to sweat the little sh*t.

  • If I have to turn it off to run repeatedly, I think it's worth complaint about.

  • What we are saying here is that after uninstalling Spotify (=decision) it gets reinstalled again without asking (=not a decision). It's not Garmin watch, after we paid for it it's our watch.

  • same here. i just deinstalled it. now its automatically  set to control phone, which resulted in way higher battery usage the last time i tried this. gotta go through all the pain of putting one song on there, changing back, deleting the song etc. now.

  • Former Member could you please pick up on this problem?

  • Hi Tess, I guess you are not aware of the battery usage of the 945? As a reference I had the 935 for two years, which battery usage was great. Nowadays with the 945 it's a struggle to keep it running for a week without recharging.

Looking at what you are writing I have the impression that you have some notion what is going on, so you can imagine that you don't want any processing cycles (energy) wasted on matters that you don't use. At the other hand, the other things you mention are a bit ...off

The 935 (and other products from Garmin I used) was great and the Garmin service too; so yes this "Spotify" thing this is something that I have not yet experienced with Garmin before. I hope that this is not a new behaviour of Garmin as the data we all share with Garmin is not nothing... trust is imho crucial.

btw: Since this is a 945 posting. Are you a 945 user, or just killing time on the forum; life is too short as you mentioned
