What is the latest timing expectation for the Garmin Forerunner 955? I’m trying to hold off replacing my 935 and am getting anxious.

It used to be 3 years, but now it has been more like two years.

Unless your 935 is at death's door, just wait. I had a 935 and now have a 945, and you really aren't missing that much. Some of the new stuff is cool, but in no way worth the steep upgrade price…
I agree, the 945 screen is small, it gives the illusion of larger size with the big bezel.
I'm not sold on LTE, but I'd upgrade my 945 to a 955 if the screen saw a sizeable increase.
I wonder if:
1) the technology works, and
2) If Garmin will adapt this technology into their wearable lineup

No thank you.

"Conclusion
The results suggest that wrist-cuff devices in the present form are inadequate for self-measurement of blood pressure and, thus, are inadequate for general use or clinical and practical use."
Granted that they say there's possibility if the technology improves, but can it.. Unless there's a study proof accuracy of that device, I'm not convinced.
And even it was accurate, no thank you. If it would be measured from the optical sensor, then why not, but requiring inflatable or somehow otherwise adjustable band, not nice.

I too don't care if BP monitoring is added. It's something I wouldn't use and it would be another forum topic on how it's completely broke vs how it works well. Anyway, I think it's a safe assumption that the technology has improved. To what level I don't know, but your link is from a paper published in April 2002.
requiring inflatable or somehow otherwise adjustable band
An inflatable or adjustable band is not a requirement. It just happens to be a patent of the startup company posted in the link. If you Google blood pressure monitoring from wristwatch, there are currently many available and none are using that type of band.
Another idea that might make it into the next generation watch is the kind of advanced EKG hinted at by this device.
On the other hand, I'm not convinced that a wrist based heart monitor can be that good. (A more advanced chest chest strap, on the other hand...)
is the kind of advanced EKG hinted at by this device.
The Heart Smart Watch features advanced EKG based Heart Rate Variability testing. This advanced features allow monitoring of over all health and cardiac condition including how your body is handling both physical and mental stress via the autonomic nervous system (ANS) and is a valuable tool in understanding how the body is recovering from periods of activity and can help you know when it's time to rest and time to move.
Sounds just like the current Body Battery feature from FirstBeat that's already available.

At least first hit was not like that, but then Googled optical blood pressure. Found this article: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24110216
And then there's https://www.wearable-technologies.com/2019/03/aktiias-optical-blood-pressure-technology-proven-accurate-for-two-months-without-recalibration/
2 months, without recalibration.
https://aktiia.com/#science
At least they are doing if pretty scientific way, but still very sceptical, and what's that calibration. Didn't find information about it.
But apparently the technology and algorithms are getting better and there is a scientific way of getting some accuracy out of green leds. Well, it Garmin does it just with new elevate sensor that has the algorithms, why not...
If you had read the previous comments, the watches tend to run on a two to three year cycle.
The prior rumors were that the 955 and/or 955 LTE would be introduced this spring. Those rumors were prior to the pandemic so I’m interested in the latest set of rumors given the special circumstances. The prior rumor was that the 945 would continue to be sold and the 955 would be an additional product.

That is how Garmin rolls. You can buy new 935 even now.
