FR945 cannot find Garmin Tempe ANT+ even is supported

FW 4.1

GPS 2.7

updated, restarted, still cannot find.

Tried to restart, keep the Tempe out of others BT, Wifi deives. Tried to turn off mobile connection, ..

I dont know what to try next

Any ideas ? On official web pages FR945 is between supported. Battery CR2032 3.11V so it looks OK. This batter has been distributed with the device.

Tried to pair while wearing as well as on the table..

  • Yes, thats exactly what I did. Looks that contact are OK, after putting battery there, contacts moved a little bit.

  • It did not work on 4.0 so I updated to 4.1, but nothing has changed.

Only colleague with same type (FR945) is sick, so I hope, he will be OK soon and come to work. Then I will check.

His extHR sensor works fine on previous fw < 4.0

  • Do you have other sensors besides the heads that connect OK?

  • unfortunatelly not :-(

  • just BT devices like headset, stereo repro, ... No ant or ant+..

  • Well, it doesn't necessarily have to be another 945 to test it.  Anyway, It's working for others, so it doesn't sound like software.  If you're certain the battery is OK, the only thing it could possibly be is the watch or the Tempe dumped on you.  To be certain, you can try other sensor pairings with your watch, or try pairing the Tempe to another watch.  Process of elimination.  Is there a retailor near you where you can take the Tempe?  Maybe they have a display watch they'll allow you to use and see if it detects the Tempe.  Because your watch is finding headphones OK, I suspect it's the Tempe sensor.  You can always take your co-worker some chicken soup and say "While I'm here..."  Relaxed

  • Good idea to try some store and test it there.Thumbsup

btw: BT and ANT+ are two different things. Using the same frequency, but different protocol.

  • Trying also to turnoff BT connection with mobile which could affect results of search

  • Finally solved, here is my trick:

Just pairing stage is problematic, after that step, on shot "connecting" is ok. How did I manage it? Simply. Just do the search immediately after putting battery inside Tempe, not after minute, not after 5. This works.

Once I paired it, I found, that is strongly negatively affected by WiFi on 2.4 (10 channel). But at the radio calm situation (11pm) it became much better to get stable period of update, from the behind of the window.

Today whole day at ski resort, 0 disconnect - so Im satisfied.

Thank you very much for many point to discussion, Im happy that it is working now :-)
