Download

Notes:

  • For any issues that you encounter please fill out the form included in the download and attach it to an email to [email protected]. Please note that you may not get a response to the email unless we need more information on the issue you report.
  • Although this software is believed to be reliable, it has not yet been released for production and should be used at your own risk.

Changes made from version 4.00 to 4.06:

  • Add new Virtual Run activity profile. This enables broadcast of speed and heart rate information to virtual running applications such as Zwift.
  • Add Widget Glances, a new way to view widget information. The option to enable is found in the Widgets menu.
  • Add Low Heart Rate to the Abnormal Heart Rate Alert feature.
  • Various improvements for battery performance.
  • Fix an issue that was causing loss of treadmill calibration data. For best results, perform an outdoor run before your first treadmill activity.
  • Improvements to breathworks
  • Miscellaneous bug fixes and improvements.

Installation Instructions

  1. Connect your Forerunner 945 to your computer using the USB cable.
  2. Download and unzip Forerunner945_406Beta.zip. Place the GUPDATE.GCD file in the \GARMIN folder of your device's internal storage drive.
  3. Disconnect your device from the computer, approve the update on the watch, and wait for the update to finish.
  4. If you would like to revert to the last public release software, place the GUPDATE-400.GCD file in the \GARMIN folder. Rename GUPDATE-400.GCD to GUPDATE.GCD before disconnecting your device. NOTE: If you revert to an older version of software, all of your settings will be reset to defaults.
  • Add Low Heart Rate to the Abnormal Heart Rate Alert feature.

the lowest you can set it is 40? that means the alert will go off at night for me

  • Garmin-Blake, I updated my

widget battery info to support glance view. I developed it initially for a watch which supports glance view and enabled the FR945 to utilize that code. But the simulator doesn't show the glance view for the 945 (ok, i probably need to wait for an update). But the export of my widget from the development environment doesn't seems to take it into account either. I am ending up with a glance view which shows just the name of the widget...

Do I have to wait for the development environment?

  • Only if you set a low heart rate alert ;-)

  • My widget Time tracker lost all the data it stored with the update. This didn't happen in the past on any update. This is not nice Garmin. My other widgets work still as expected. Time tracker doesn't support glance view currently and if no data is stored by the user it may be slightly below the 32 kB limit, with data storage I am probably above this limit. May it be that for this reason data is deleted? Again, this is not nice Garmin, since I rely on this data.

  • It would be really great to have running power as a native field in a future update. There are more people using Stryd footpod and structured power based workouts would be a great addition.

Thanks for all the great updates so far !

  • I almost purchased the NPE RUNN last week. I still might get it but I know it'll be a waste for me as I loathe the treadmill. I'll try with my garmin and a footpod and have that broadcast to zwift before plunking down & for the RUNN.

  • do you still need the footpod with this update, or will the watch now suffice for Zwift?

  • The watch will be enough, but it will still be as accurate only as the watch itself is. Depending on the treadmill and workout, I can get mine to 3-8%.
i Hope to consolidate this with the RUNN

  • This beta works ok, no issues at all.

  • When can we expect this beta rolling up to a full SW release? A week? 10 days? More?
