CES 2020, no more promised features for Forerunner 945 (a missed opportunity)

Now its CES 2020. Its winter and a lot of the promised things (for fall 2019!) are not there.

Where are workout videos?
Where is Widget Glance?
Where is Power Management?
Where is Map Themes?

Broken promises, lost trust.

I think, Forerunner 945 was never ment to be on par with Fenix lineup, despite what was said.

  • Treadmill works OK for me too. All works OK for me, really, as announced in the specifications sheet of the product, EXCEPT the buttons, Last days, I was testing a FR935 in a big store, and I realised how bad are the buttons in my FR945 (Rev.A). May be I can write to Garmin about that problem, but I read here that problem isn't resolved, however :'(

I can't sweat at this moment, so returned my Rev. A. It was working, just annoying, but as I've paid good money for the watch it would be nice to have buttons working as they should. My replacement unit is on the way, so can't say what revision I'm getting and how the buttons are working. But what I've understood Rev. D. has the fix. I'll probably report to that thread my experience when I've got the new watch.

  • I agree - I was under the impression they were the same inside technically, just better mapping and materials and I too read the new features from the Fenix6 Pro would be coming to the 945

Looking at the above and ticking the 'Show Only Differences' doesn't mention workout videos, widget glances etc...

I DID purchase mine on the assumption that these features would be coming, based on garmin social media responses.

  • I don't believe Media did make those updates up but was told that it was "planned"
    Broken promises
remember the manufacturers promise and buy it. The date when it should be enabled passes and you sit there and can do nothing but complain.
based on garmin social media responses.

I would be interested in reading those statements to see exactly what was said and by whom if anyone has those links.  There's a huge difference between "planned' feature releases/dates and "promised".

  • :-) - but ces is definitely not the place for (minor) software updates. just a bit more patience, they'll come...

  • I did read DCR's comments.  I was hoping for something official from Garmin.  I trust DCR, but we're hearing this second-hand and there may have been an honest and simple misunderstanding with wording such as "may" or "will" between the two of them.  My husband is always telling me I said I will do something when I know I said I may.  Relaxed
