WIFI on new 945 isn't working (and yes, I've read the novels on this in forum); any solution??

Just got a new Forerunner 945 and setup has gone fairly smoothly until this frustrating issue.  During initial setup I had no problem, being able to setup connection to my home wifi through iPhone app.  Today, I tried to setup Apple Music and as I went to download playlists onto the phone I was hit with a message "incorrect password" which was weird.  I've spent the last hour trying to fix this, both on the phone directly and through Garmin Connect, and it's still the same problem.  Running firmware 4.00, and confirmed that there's no problem with my wifi (all other devices in the home from TVs, laptops, tablets and phones are connected with no problem with either strength or consistency of signal.  Only this damn Forerunner won't connect.  I'm not getting an error message as some have mentioned in other posts, it's just saying "incorrect password".  I'm absolutely convinced I've entered the correct password (hence the hour of troubleshooting), and it worked fine yesterday when I did the initial setup, so I'm not sure what's going on.

This is SO frustrating!!!  I was so excited to take my new watch and go out for a run with music and without my phone, and I'm stuck dealing with this BS which just kills the joy of trying to enjoy my new toy...

I had the same problem Error 0105,0200 etc). I removed the wifi password, made it an open network. Ensure your router or hotspot is in 802.11g (2.4 Ghz). And it connected successfully

  • It's an issue with the latest software update. Before you update the software on the 945 the wifi works no problem, but it's broken in the latest software. Wifi does not work on the 945, period. Hopefully it will be fixed in the next update as this is a very expensive device to have unresolved software issues.

  • Wifi does not work on the 945, period.

Sorry but that's plain wrong. While it might nor work for some, it does work for others. I can say with hand on heart that we have had very few issues connecting to WiFi with the two 945s we have. And when we have, it has usually been documented issues at Garmin's end.

  • Ok, I guess I should say it hasn't worked on the 4 different 945's that I've had. The wifi worked fine right out of the box, but once updated, all 4 of them error'd out. I'm an IT computer geek and I've read and run through every procedure to try to get it to work, on multiple 2.4 networks, and nothing. Error's out. I'm glad yours works though, I wish mine did. I like the watch enough to not return the 4th one and just live with it and hope it gets resolved for all devices. For now I'm just uploading music to the device since Spotify sync won't work without WIFI.

  • As a lapsed 'computer geek' if you've had problems with 4 watches then I'd hazard a guess the problem lies somewhere in your network configuration.

Have you talked to Garmin Connect?

  • Yeah, when I have problems like this I instantly blame myself. That's why I've tried it on several different networks other than my own, with the same result. The weird thing is the 945 wifi works just fine out of the box, with an older OS. Once updated to the latest 5.5 software is when the wifi breaks. Super weird.

  • It is indeed super weird because I’m watching mine sync over WiFi as I type.

If you have not already done so then talking with Garmin might shed some light.

  • Are you on ver 5.5 software?

  • How's the DNS configuration? I think I remember seeing post that the watch is nowadays using hard coded DNS servers, and if your network blocks other DNS servers, then it could be that.

Ps. just tested, wifi synced just fine with ver 5.5.

  • I am. I always update including betas.
