WIFI on new 945 isn't working (and yes, I've read the novels on this in forum); any solution??

Just got a new Forerunner 945 and setup has gone fairly smoothly until this frustrating issue.  During initial setup I had no problem, being able to setup connection to my home wifi through iPhone app.  Today, I tried to setup Apple Music and as I went to download playlists onto the phone I was hit with a message "incorrect password" which was weird.  I've spent the last hour trying to fix this, both on the phone directly and through Garmin Connect, and it's still the same problem.  Running firmware 4.00, and confirmed that there's no problem with my wifi (all other devices in the home from TVs, laptops, tablets and phones are connected with no problem with either strength or consistency of signal.  Only this damn Forerunner won't connect.  I'm not getting an error message as some have mentioned in other posts, it's just saying "incorrect password".  I'm absolutely convinced I've entered the correct password (hence the hour of troubleshooting), and it worked fine yesterday when I did the initial setup, so I'm not sure what's going on.

This is SO frustrating!!!  I was so excited to take my new watch and go out for a run with music and without my phone, and I'm stuck dealing with this BS which just kills the joy of trying to enjoy my new toy...

  • Connect to Garmin Express on your Mac, remove the WiFi connection. Re-connect.

Will try, thank you for the prompt response.  Will try and share if it fixes anything.

This is the technological version of Fonzi hitting the side of a TV to fix a problem (geez, I'm really dating myself...).  Just curious, what's the cause of this problem, if you know?

Tried that.  Didn't work.  Same exact problem (no error code, just says "incorrect password").

  • Have you tried logging into your GC account online? Perhaps try changing the password? Try also removing the WiFi network on the watch, in GCM and in Garmin Express to make sure it is gone from all three. Restart everything in between times. I'd set the wifi connection in GE and then sync via the cable to the watch. Test.

I know some people have issues but it's not something I generally have problems with, unless there's a server side issue at Garmin's end but that would be affecting more people.

You could also try a hard reset on the 945 - press and hold top left until it shuts down (hold through the assistance screen). Then restart it. If you don't want to lose any steps etc make sure you synch first. No user data or settings are lost.

If still no joy the options are a Full Factory Reset in which case all user data and settings will be lost and/or contact Garmin Support.

  • I suspect there's something wrong at Garmin's end. Just tried on my F6 and F5+ and got the same message. Works with the phone but not wifi. Logged it with Garmin Support. Suggest you do too.

  • I have similar issues with my Wifi, connects fine, doing the connection testing - works, try and sync Spotify - error 700. Very frustrating, having to hotspot my iphone as they seems the only way it works for me.

Apple Music? I don't believe thats supported for offline download?

  • Is your WiFi 2.4 or 5 GHz?

My bet is that you have just 5GHz or both but the password is different for 2.4 and all your other devices connect to the 5GHz network.

  • Password is same for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Nothing was changed on home network.

  • All my watches are back to syncing over WiFi. I’ve made no changes to anything on the watches or on my network. Didn’t even get to turn of the 5GHz network. Just tried when I got home and the F6 and F5+ synced fine. 945 didn’t last night but is syncing now.

I had the same problem Error 0105,0200 etc). I removed the wifi password, made it an open network. Ensure your router or hotspot is in 802.11g (2.4 Ghz). And it connected successfully
