SW 4.00: 50% more Battery drain

again the Battery drain in this Firmware is very high, as i have done this note by Former Member nothing changed:

Note: We understand that there are users who have reported decreased battery life since the 3.90 update. There is nothing in 4.00 that addresses this and we would first ask that anyone seeing this symptom perform a hard reset by holding the power button down until the device turns off before charging to 100% again. If this is not successful then you are experiencing an issue that we are actively investigating.

In 24 hours you will lost ~15%, but when you disable the Phone Connection on the watch himself like this:

the battery drain in 24 hours is only 7%

for me it's clear that more or less

Sensor Hub 3.20 or

ANT/BLE/BT 5.01

causes this issue!

Former Member  Please take a look with your Team on it, or better, gives us a Tool for Power Management like on Fenix 6!

EDITH:

could it be, that only watches affected, where Android 10 phones used?

is there someone who have probs with iOS or Android 9?

EDITH2:

confirmed drain on Android 9 and 10

any1 can confirm on iOS?

EDITH3:

confirmed drain on Android 9 and 10 and on latest iOS!

  • I have a brandnew 945 (one week), paired with Iphone X (IOS 13) . The drain ist 0.9% per hour! I did a hard reset, deactivated SPO and the phone connection, but the drain remains at 0.9% ...

  • My battery drains since 3.9 faster. I’m on latest iOS version on my iPhone SE.

  • Same for me. I had used the power off control and it didn't fix it. I had to. Long press the power button till it shut off. Now I'm back to 'normal' battery drain.

  • I got my 945 3 weeks ago and I’m on FW 3.90 and iOS 13.3! My watch is discharging at 0.45%/h. Notifications off, original faces, HRM always on, Pulse OX off. Unfortunately I was not monitoring the battery when I was on 3.30. I don’t have any issue (the watch froze once though). Cheers

  • Following on from my previous post, I notice that the battery in the fr945 is still functioning normally. I think the problem with the latest update has something to do with some third-party wingets and watch face. I've reset Garmin's hybration tracking and it doesn't seem to affect the battery. Finally, I don't always have the connection to garmin connect. Maybe I can help some with what I'm writing and a good year to all.

  • the funny thing, since i disabled the BLT connection to my phone on the watch, i tought i can try to enable Spo2 Measurement during the whole day and i am surprised, in 24 hours i have a battery drain of only 10% a day, that means, with 24h Spo2 Measurement i can use my watch for 10 days, thats absolutly OK.

the strange thing, with disabled 24 hours Spo2 Measurement and enabled BLT connection the watch eats a lot of more battery, arround 15-16% a day!

  • The Garmin software defies logic sometimes. I disabled BLT connection to my phone just to see what happens and the battery consumption was even worse.

where you disabled BT on the watch or on mobile phone?

  • I disabled it on the watch.

  • I had major battery problems in 2.80, 3.30 was perfect and it was borked again in 3.90 and 4.00 but not as bad as 2.80. I still think my watch gets stuck in some sort of background process loop with the BT hence the massive battery drain.
