Forerunner 945 Series SW 4.00 is now live

This update can be downloaded with Garmin Express or automatically through Garmin Connect Mobile.

Change Log

  • Fixed an issue with ephemeris downloads over BLE which could cause units to experience slow GPS fix times.

Note: We understand that there are users who have reported decreased battery life since the 3.90 update. There is nothing in 4.00 that addresses this and we would first ask that anyone seeing this symptom perform a hard reset by holding the power button down until the device turns off before charging to 100% again. If this is not successful then you are experiencing an issue that we are actively investigating.

  • I did it with a Windows computer. Should also work with Mac because you only need the gupdate.gcd which you put into the Garmin folder. This should also work with the Mac via the Finder. Where to get the software I have described a bit earlier.

  • What do you mean with "Multisport activity load"?

  • It means that multisports activities are remaining only in the watch, they are not loading or syncing to Garmin Connect...

  • Great, active calories are somehow even worse? I have over five thousand consecutive steps taken during the normal 24/7 mode--77 active calories.

Get back from your vacation(s) and address this and the rest of the things you broke!

Amendment: There is definitely a correlation between active calorie, resting calories, and the stress measurement because I apparently was not getting ANY stress measurements from the watch, for it seems an elongated time frame. I powered off the watch, and the watch started to get a stress measurement again, and would you look at that? I began to see a normal amount of active/resting calories moving again.

For a frame of reference, I turned off and on (or back to auto) the OHRM when I noticed no calories moving (also turned off and on the activity tracking function as this has "kickstarted" the watch into recording calories getting hung up on prior watches). I started moving for about an hour or so continuously after this, and when I went to check vitals, Stress had no value the whole time. After a simple power off and stress measurements started working again.

  • This should also work with the Mac via the Finder.

If you have a Mac you need Android File Transfer to access the files on the watch. You need to ensure Garmin Express is fully closed and shutdown.

    1. My firmware updated to 4.0. Battery went from fully charged to 30% in 37 hours while using in normal watch mode.
    2. Also everytime I sync to the ios app on phone The watch is not recognized and app wants to do a new setup.

For me it's getting normal directly after the charge to 100%. The first day after the charge the drain is about 0.2%/hour or even less. But then it increases slowly to 0.6-0.7 and keeps on this level until the complete discharge.
